and what's Tri-athlon racing like in Scotland? With BT being so American I worry that it'll be much more macho/gritty in Scotland and the idea is scaring me a little. Anyone got any advice?

Hi Kate. I have only ever competed in Stirling, Edinburgh and at Aberfeldy. I would recommend starting with a try a try (novice) event and just take it from there. Everyone is very helpfull and supportive.

I have heard a rumour that Scotlands first minister is going to do Stirling this year although I'm not sure if he's down for the novice or the sprint.

Hi,

I'm from Scotland (live in Glasgow, work in Troon).  I'm just starting out with this tri malarky coming from a background of mountain biking and swimming.

I've no idea what the score is here, but I can't wait to get stuck in and find out!

Cheers,
Alec

I'm in the Aberdeen area as well. I'm doing the local MPH series with one of my mates. Drop me a pm or post a reply if you want to chat about the local races.

Hello folks :-)  I'm in Edinburgh, and pretty new to this tri lark, although i've signed up for an IM next August!!!  Lots of training to get through, so I expect i'll be on here a lot.  Training log looks good; just need to start training now!Tongue out

Hi Gav :-)

I've signed up for Regensburg in Germany next August.  I've only completed one sprint and one middle distance, so it'll be a challenge!  Have you got any races coming up?

Sounds like a tough bike leg. Scotland is the perfect place to train for those though!

I did a couple of sprints and a duathlon this year, my first ones. I was considering signing up for Challenge Copenhagen next year, but think I'm going to train for the Aberfeldy Middle Distance instead, and then maybe look to do an ironman the following year. I'm fairly confident I could build up the bike and run, but swimming is still a big limiter for me.
