Swim
Comments: Myself and another couple of athletes really felt that from the start and up until the rounding of the second buoy was really turbulent with people all bunched up. Got kicked ALOT! Maybe I should swim faster...Found my groove about 500 in and just held steady for the rest of the way...swallowed a bunch of cola-colored lake water so my hydration was right on (haha) What would you do differently?: Site better, maybe new goggles or anti-fog. Practice OWS more Transition 1
Comments: I was numb from the LONG run from the lake to transition (not sure when the started timimg the swim vs the transition so my swim time is from my watch What would you do differently?: figure out how to get out of the wetsuit (heels) Body glide on the outside of the suit may help when it flips over Bike
Comments: Awesome bike today. Felt strong all the way. Had 2 gels out there and 2 bottle of electrolytes/H2O What would you do differently?: Nothing, I felt great on the bike but was I cold! My hands were numb, my toes were numb, my nether-regions were numb ( not from compression) Transition 2
Comments: Again, it was hard to manipulate objects with my cold hand (I should have worn gloves, which I had in my trans bag) What would you do differently?: practice my dismount with feet on top of pedals, jumping off of bike Run
Comments: Of course, this hurt. I guess I was running at a good pace, though. Felt slower than I was actually running. Just tried to keep my cadence up and turn my legs over. What would you do differently?: Really, this was a good run but I felt it at the end ( as you should) More brick sessions before St A's Post race
Warm down: Hugged the wife and kids...ate pancakes What limited your ability to perform faster: Genetics, haha Last updated: 2006-12-21 12:00 AM

Ate a whole wheat bagel with natural PB and honey along with a banana. Jump in my ride and made my way to the race...Man, it was cold this morning (for Florida, that is)...got body marked and got my transponder then set up transition...kind of crowded because they had us rack by race number, even though there were plenty of empty racks...oh well. Put on some Chris Cornell/audioslave to get in the right place and hung around a bit waiting for some friends to arrive. Can't lie, I was nervous this morning, last night, last week...j/k. It was my 1st tri at this distance (and my first full year of racing after starting last summer)
Too cold to bike so I ran a little bit to get my HR up some. Just a light jog with some stride outs. Got on my wetsuit and headed down to the lake (which was warmer than the air temp) Didn't really even warm-up for the swim other than getting wet and swimming about 25 x 2
