Overall Rank = 134/188

Age Group Rank = 19/22
Run
  • 27m 57s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

I was trying to do about a 9:30 min/mile pace for this segment so I wouldn't be gassed for the bike & 2nd run. Overall the pace was about what I hoped for, though I went a little faster than I had planned. I'm still not experienced enough to feel the difference between running a 9 min/mile & a 9:30 min/mile, so it's kind of a crapshoot.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, it was about what I was shooting for.
Transition 1
  • 01m 49s
Comments:

My transitions always suck, and I imagine they always will. I'm simply not in a huge hurry in the transitions at this point; I'd rather get my fuel in me & get everything done right than be in some massive hurry and stress out.
Bike
  • 43m
  • 12.4 miles
  • 17.30 mile/hr
Comments:

I think everyone's speed is low; my computer said I was close to 18mph average and I know my gf's average on her computer was well higher than the one Run Far reported. But it hurt everyone equally I'm assuming, so not a big deal.
Transition 2
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

I did a solid job of getting the shoes off while still in the saddle, but I could have run with the bike better. I got the tennis shoes on pretty quickly though, no complaints.
Run
  • 13m 50s
  • 1.55 miles
  • 08m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

I was shooting for a 9 min/mile average, so I pretty much did exactly what I had hoped. I kept a good pace and didn't have much in the way of 'jelly legs' coming off the bike.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I blame Carl Sagan.

Event comments:

I'm glad Jack went through with the event, it was well done and the turnout was better than I expected. Very well organized, I'm used to as much from him at this point.

It was great to meet you on Sunday. You did a great job pacing yourself. The fact that your second run ranked higher than your first showed you ran a smart race.
