Pre-race routine:

EAS Carb Control Shake and Diet Red Bull to drink. Parking was far from start. Not enough time before race to warm up and stretch.
Event warmup:

Some light stretching (not enough). Some light running. Rushed to get to start.

Comments:

Out at 8:20 first mile. Had to keep myself slow as I was getting passed alot in the first mile. I passed many of these people over the length of the race.

Rock n Roll Half Marathon next week.
What would you do differently?:

Pretty happy with time, but I worked exessively hard.

Overall, fun race with finish along the atlantic boardwalk.

Thanks for the input on the redbull and HR. Never thought about that - I bet that was a factor. I will stop drinking these before races.

My first half next week and I am excited. :-)

WOW ave HR 182!! You were working HARD.

That definately shows excellent mental toughness. I don't think I could push myself that hard for 40 min. Nice job.

Btw: why the carb control shake before the race? Methinks carbs would be a good thing.

Agreed. That was the only drink I had in the house with some calories and I can't eat food before a race.

Also, I think my HR was artificially too high from the red bull. I don't think the numbers were a accurate reflection of the run. First half was around 175-180. Second half was 180+.
