Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Dodge raindrops...almost didn't get it off...when the singles went off, I thought that was it as the skys darkened, but the rain held off...just some stretching, as we watched the singles transition
Event warmup:

Kind of a neat event...400m swim, 11k bike, 2.5k run...single and double events...so, with the double...you finish the loop, and get back in the water...double everything (transitions included)...that second swim is always a bear...third time I have done this event...love it
Swim
  • 19m
  • 800 meters
  • 02m 23s / 100 meters
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Had to do this twice...once each lap...about 200-300 m run with bike to mount on road
Bike
  • 45m
  • 22 kms
  • 29.33 km/hr
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

same 200-300 m run with bike back to T area (b/w both transition x2 that is about an extra K of running added to time...hmmmm)
Run
  • 27m
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 24s  min/km
Comments:

Just slow...not terrible...not great
Post race
Warm down:

All you can eat barbeque...mmmmmm....food....

Event comments:

Race always fun...but tough field...the family that puts it on (James Loaring) is on the Canadian national Tri team so the whole team that wasn't in athens was here, straight from six weeks in Penticton training with Whitfield...all other collegiate athletes...will probably race the single next year, as my first lap time would have finished in the top twelve, of 141 and first in my age group, in the 'regular people' division...good race day overall, not fast, but clean race, and confidence building swims...that's it for the tri year...off to DWD, and Detroit Marathon

Congrats on a great race Daryll...man that is a fantastic run time after doing the swim and bike!  I'd cut off my left arm (well, almost) to be able to do that!  I had to laugh at your "slow" comment.  Now my run....THAT is the definition of "slow"!

Sounds like an interesting race - and a good challenge, especially the double! Congratulations.

Yeah, it is cool...that second lap is just a killer, though, going back into the water...whole thing to support breast cancer research too, so good cause...not real long, but competition is amazing, as stated, and usually a nice 'finish' to tri season...weather didn't really co-operate this year, but has the other three years I have done this one...3 out of 4 not bad at all

You got to swim TWICE! Where do I sign up? ;-)

Sorry for the late post. First week of school is always such zoo...faculty meetings, scheduling errors, meeting students. Glad it's over.

Damn. I'll say it again. I'd LOVE to swim twice. It would be a great way to get some revenge on those fast biker guys. ;-)

Anyways. I'm glad you had a chance to squeeze in a race before the season ended. I'd hate to have the lasting image of the season for you being that race in Lansing.

It's hard for me to gauge your splits because of the race format, but they seem solid to me. And actually your swim split isn't bad at all.

G/L with DWD. See you in Detroit.
