Subject: RE: Grandfather Mountain Marathon I ran Grandfather as my first marathon in 2005. Just make sure you have plenty of base mileage in and you'll do fine. I sugguest taking some pain reliever right when you start the race, and more halfway through, all the up and down will definitely work your muscles and joints. The majority of my training was done on flat terrain, and I did fine. I wasn't training for tri's at the time, so I don't have any fantastic tips on combining the two.
