I can't imagine so. the top should and does fit snug over the bottoms, and there's a good bit of overlap, so water can't get through there.

Hey De Soto people,

Is a two piece wetsuit less warm in the water than a 1 piece? I'm doing the Pacific Grove Tri in September and the water will be a little chilly.

I haven't swam in it yet, but was told they are actually warmer because the bib actually gives you double coverage on the spine and the vital organs.  I can tell you from putting it on, it's not going to leak.

The DeSoto is as warm as my one piece wetsuits... there is no difference...

UNLESS, you have to jump in the water feet first... the impact of the water will push the wetsuit top up and you will get a rush of cold water under the wetsuit top... other than that, I can think of no instance that the T1 doesn't match warmth of other wetsuits.

Trisports is having a 20% off sale through midnight pacific time tonight. I just ordered a T1; it sounded great after reading all these reviews.

The only downside of the T1 is that it is not easy to remove unless you have the zippered version (...at which point, you will trade off a little comfort but not enough to make a difference for the shorter course races - i.e., oly distance or shorter)... as for speed of removal, the DeSoto will match any other design once you learn to remove the suit.... but, expect a rather steep learning curve.

IMO, the T1 (no zipper) is an excellent choice for IM distances... the zippered version is a better choice for shorter distances.

It takes some practice getting the top off.  Especially if your arms are gassed from the swim....

Otherwise a great wetsuit.  I don't use bodyglide and have never had any neck chafe.

My experience was exactly the oposite - I was not sold on the short distances, but for the IM last weekend I barely noticed the suite and it removes very quickly.... (zipper two piece).

No argument here...

  • .. a zippered two piece removes about as quickly at most traditional designed wetsuit...

  • .. it is ithe unzippered two piece that is more difficult to remove...

  • Besides... don't confuse speed of removal with ease of removal.

You can get the unzippered two piece off about as fast a traditional one piece... but, I have yet to see where it takes less effort.

    BTW, IM's have strippers...

Sooo... by default... all wetsuits are EASY to get off...

but, not all wetsuits are comfortable wearing for over an hour... I find the T1 to be the most comfortable of all wetsuits I have tried over the past decades of abusing my old body.

    Joe

BTW, I assume you were referencing IMAZ... if so...congrats on your efforts.
