Pre-race routine:

After they kicked the long course runners out of the starting area(they started the short course runners ahead of the long course) I wished wifey luck and let her run her race(she did awesome for her first race!)Talked to a lot of people, there were a lot of CMC'ers in this race, spent a lot of time talking to Tom(thozf)
Run
  • 17m 50s
  • 2.5 miles
  • 07m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

Mile 1 6:47
Mile 2 6:17
Last Half 4:47ish
Last half mile was uphill(about 50 vertical feet in .16 mile), and I think I paid the price for running WAY too hard on the first 2 miles.
What would you do differently?:

Obviously not go out as hard as I did, where in the heck did that 6:17 come from?
Transition 1
  • 00m
Bike
  • 50m 8s
  • 15.2 miles
  • 18.19 mile/hr
Comments:

I didn't spin the hills, I attacked them, out of the saddle pounding pedals, and I'm paying the price for it post race..ouch
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really, I just can't spin a hill, it's something I'll have to do when I start longer races, but man I love pounding up hills. I'm going to class this as a good bike, but I want to get faster, and no Bear the answer is NOT a red bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

I never thought I'd get my bike stopped before the dismount line, I locked the breaks and left a 20 ft skid mark, felt like I was a kid again
Run
  • 20m 6s
  • 2.5 miles
  • 08m 02s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

Train on more hills
Post race

Probably a mixture of ADRENALINE and TRAINING.

Serious!

It took me a while to "learn" to spin up hills... I'd rather spin up hills then feel that explosion of pain in my quads.

GREAT job in holding firm on the last 5K!!  8's are rockin' when you are coming home!
