Age Group Rank = 7/28
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4.30am, showered, consumed oatmeal and water. Forgot to mix an extra bottle of Infinite (MUST REMEMBER THIS FOR OLY IN JUNE). Packed up the family truckster and drove the 1 hour to Claremore. We stayed with friends in Muskogee, thanks Marla and Jason!
Event warmup:

Stretched and did two laps in the pool.
Swim
  • 09m 8s
  • 400 meters
  • 02m 15s / 100 meters
Comments:

This was definitely my worst swim. I become stuck behind another swimmer and for the life of me could not get around him. I tried twice but couldn't make it. In my opinion, he did a poor job seeding himself. I had to swim so slowly, I thought I was going to drown.
What would you do differently?:

Next time, I'll take a more aggressive stance and make my move.
Transition 1
  • 03m 18s
Comments:

I did a poor job setting up my transition area for T1.

I'm really not sure what I did in there for over three minutes but it was too long.
What would you do differently?:

Next time, I'll hang my race number around my handlebars and roll open my socks and put them in my cycling shoes.
Bike
  • 37m 45s
  • 12 miles
  • 19.07 mile/hr
Comments:

I started drinking right after I started the bike. (Thanks to Steph for yelling, "Hydrate on the bike" during my run into T1.) This was the most difficult ride I think I've had. The wind was a killer. I still had a strong average but it was tough!

I was passed by one guy who I passed about a mile later. No one else passed me.
What would you do differently?:

I feel I did everything right. I will continue to train on hills and in the Oklahoma wind.
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

This is how T2 should be done. Off the bike, run in, put the bike on the rack, take off the helmet, put on my runners and get out!
What would you do differently?:

I can't think of anything.
Run
  • 14m 35s
  • 2 miles
  • 07m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

I was tired but had a great pace. I didn't get passed by anyone but overtook another guy in my age group. That always makes you feel good.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched a bit and that was it. Otherwise, I hung out with Danny, Steph and Marla and talked to Renee a few times.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm still fairly new to the sport and my continued training and race experience will do nothing but help my performance.
