Swim
Comments: First snake swim. Was nervous about possible passing/getting passed. But it wasn't bad. I passed 4 people on the 3rd & 4th length and another on the 13th. I don't remember being passed, but was told I was once. The lanes were wide enough so I wasn't afraid of running into someone. The last person I passed was not happy about it - had I known I would have drafted the last three lengths. What would you do differently?: Not lose my GU. Transition 1
Comments: I have to work on this. It's not the two minutes faster time I'm worried about. It's the mental lapse it creates knowing you worked hard to finish ahead of people in the swim, and ten people pass you in transition. What would you do differently?: Practice more, plan ahead, set up area better. Bike
Comments: The wind affected everyone the same. This is why I train on Riverside going South - so I don't get too bothered by the 15-20mph headwind. One crosswind almost blew me down. What would you do differently?: Go faster on the out and remain on aero position longer against the wind. Transition 2
Comments: Race number ripped and had to re-pin, but 10-20 seconds doesn't bother me. What would you do differently?: nothing. Run
Comments: Slightly confusing, but was good to run past crowd twice for support. I prefer longer runs and you can tell from my age group ranks in the three disciplines. What would you do differently?: Run harder, but I always feel I could have done that AFTER the race Post race
Warm down: free food What limited your ability to perform faster: training Event comments: A great race and very well done. This is considering a huge turnout compared with last year (I'm told). Very helpful and knowledgable volunteers. Several first timers. This is why small local races are great. Last updated: 2007-04-22 12:00 AM

No routine. Had a friend there so we kind of chatted until the line up for the snake swim.
Lost pre-race GU in swimming area - didn't seem to matter much. Had to stand in line for 25 minutes for snake swim, so warm up was limited to hopping for 10 seconds and swinging my arms ~ ten times.
