Subject: Olympic Tri in May - How do I keep training afterward?
Question: I am doing the new "2x Balanced" training along with the 5x per week weight training program, both from the BT site. My first race is the Jamba Juice Wildflower Tri at Lake San Antonio, CA this May. I plan to do 1 tri per month through November (all Sprints and Olympics) for a total of 7 events. When the 16 week program ends, what sort of weekly workouts should I be doing during the season to maintain/build without burining out?

well, i would recommend to keep your oly volume throughout SO how about after your first race:

Month 3, Week 4 (recovery)

Month 4, Week 1 (maintain)

Month 4 Week 2  (maintain)

Month 4 Week 4 (taper/race)

..then cycle back through...i would not try to build any more volume if u will be just at the oly volume in may...maintain it this season if your first olys - will be a great base for 2005...then next fall/spring can concentrate on builing up to 1/2im if that is your goal.  as u prolly know, i am a lot more conservative...some would probably have no problems building again after their first oly...just listen to your body...

just my thoughts...if your feeling 'weak' after your 1st and 2nd race during training, then u may be able to adjust it down more so more rest and cycle back up if your races happen to alternate b/w sprint and oly...

Thanks, Ron. So many training programs stop and then don't tell you where to go next. If I make it through this season, I'm going to work on doing a 1/2 IM for next year, so I'll be looking for the workouts right here!

Keep up the great work - let's put www.trinewbies.com it their place!

i will add the 'interim' info to the programs...thanx for the question...it was very necessary.  scott herrick emailed me saying that he will be sending me the 1/2im plan this week...i will have it up in feb.  sound like a goodie...it actually will be exceptional if he writes it like his HR articles.  i hear it will follow the RPE to train BUT easily adopted to HR monitors.  i can't wait so i can get started.

Eightman, the Training Bible talks about how to train during racing season when doing multiple races close together. You may not want to do the exact workouts and follow the one from this site, but you can see what level of training to maintain between races and how to transition and taper.
