Overcast
Total Time = 29m 39s
Overall Rank = 49/131
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 5/8
Pre-race routine:

up at 615 - take care of the morning toilet - then PB on WW + diet coke - the race is in town so i walked a block/ran a block there. - got race number and warmed up on high school track - nice track
Event warmup:

Stretch and alternate jog/ walk laps on HS track - about 3/4 mile
Run
  • 29m 39s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Had to pee before i started, no time and no porta potties near start - if I had gone back I would have missed the start.
There were not many people in this race so I'd not be surprised if I DFL'd the age group. but considering the lack of work the previous week and the 7+ hours digging and planting yesterday, I'm perfectly OK with a PR.

This time started a little closer to the front - but as in last one everyone took off and I was just thinking to myself - run your race not theirs.. slowly started to pass folks after about 3/4 mile. At 1 mile was at 9:30 - ok so far so good - at 2M was 19:08... i knew the last part was up hill then turn the corner and downhill to the chute.. started pushing up the last hill then finished strong into the chute - saw that I was sub 30 so pushed a little harder - unoffical 29:30 - still waiting for official results but it'll be a PR in any event. - Ok Offical has 29:39 - a full 9 seconds off what the clock on the chute said but... ok it was the same clock for everyone.... I'll take it as personal best
What would you do differently?:

Pee before race - I did go about 30 minutes before but ran the whole race wishing I could pee
Post race
Warm down:

DW came and jock strapped for me. Walked around a bit and then had something to eat the some light stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

needed to pee, crappy week training, long day gardening yesterday, I probably would have been better served resting.

Event comments:

Lots of volunteers... - post race food was well done (in my extremely limited experience) - Pizza , bagels, donuts, fruit, water, italian ice

CONGRATS on PR...but I don't see how a 29HOUR 5K is a PR? Slight typo in main heading of RR.  Awesome job...funny how having to pee whole race results in PR..same thing happened to me.

Contrats of the PEE-B!

Maybe next time I race I'll use that strategy.

You're getting faster every time you're out there!!!!
