Pre-race routine:

The usual...bagel with cream cheese and glass of milk. No coffee this time though
Event warmup:

10 min of easy spinning with some 1 min fast pedals. The race started with a 8 mile slow start so I used that for further warm up.

This was a great race. I love climbing, even though I am not built for it. I really needed to train more hills at a higher wattage than I was. We were climbing at about 450 watts, then punching it up to 500+ at the apex. I also need to continue to work on my positioning. It was very difficult to get to the front of the peleton.
What would you do differently?:

Train more hills.
Post race
Warm down:

Rode back to the car, very, very, very slowly.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not training hills enough.

Event comments:

It would have been nice to have some water stations for the end of the race. It ended at the apex of Mt. Sugarloaf, and that last climb up it was brutal.

Course: 2 laps of 11 miles plus an 8 mile start. Very hilly; at about the 5 mile mark you hit what is called "the three sisters" - 3 straight climbs of about 1/4 mile at about 10%. Then you go another 5 miles with some moderate hills and hit the motherload - Mt. Sugarloaf. This beast is 1/2 mile long, 15% average and close to 20% in some segments.
