So I was reading through the description of the '07 bike course on the official website. How exactly will we be turning around on 27 before 153? Are we going to cut across traffic to get to the other lane? Or will we be heading out and back on the shoulder and one lane of one side of the highway? It's just not making sense in my head with the way they've described it.

Since the chances of me being in the lead at the turnaround are about zero, Im just going to follow the bike in front of me.

I do assume they will have the traffic stopped so the turnaround is safe.

Anybody have recommendations on a place to stay that's not too far from transition?

Anyplace in Downtown Chattanooga will be within a mile or so of the transition. But the closer you get to the riverfront, the better off you'll be.

I'm staying at the Sheraton Read House - hopefully it'll work out.

You're gonna be about 8 blocks away from the transition if you're at the Read House. You'll actually be only about a block or so away from the hotel at one point towards the beginning and end of the bike course.

Anyone have any ideas what the total climb amounts for the bike and run are? The course profile on the official website is helpful, but not exactly what I'm looking for.

I don't know but looks like it will be tough starting out on both!

Yeah, I've heard it's pretty rough. The "other" board describes the run as "pure hell."

"Other" board? Am I missing out on some other important online triathlete camaraderie? Oh, I checked out the bike using the little BT route maker and it put the climb a hair over 2000'.

You'll see references to the "other" board - it means the forums at Slowtwitch.com. The guys there are more competitive, and the attitude of the postings reflects that. They'll rip your bike position to shreds, unless you're Bjorn Andersson (I think he's the patron saint of ST). That beign said, there's a ton of good info on that site. A TON.

2000' feet of climbing? Holy sheeit.
