I got my wetsuit in the mail this week and I need to get my first OWS out of the way. Can anyone recommend where to OWS in the Fort Worth area?

fit2train is putting on clinics thoughou the summer.  The next one is June 3rd at Lake Ray Hubbard.  Not really ft. worth and it cost $15.00 but it is well organized and you get the opportunity to swim in a crowd.

Benbrook lake had designated swim laps at one time, but I haven't been out there in awhile and don't know if they are still there after all this rain. I think we may try to organize an OWS the weekend of May 26-27 so if you are interested, let me know. We have a canoe that can paddle along beside folks and swimming in a group for an OWS is really important.

Thanks for the responses. I'll have to check out one of those training courses.

I'm planning on swimming at Benbrook tomorrow morning just to get a feel for the open water and my wetsuit. I'm actually pretty excited about it. My wife will be acting as lifeguard on duty, but I don't plan on putting her to work.

Wetsuits are great.  I used my for the first time last weekend.  It keep me from drowning.  You can literally just lay there and you won't sink.  So just remember that and it should help out.
