Total Time = 1h 11m 39s
Overall Rank = 54/104
Age Group = 50-59
Age Group Rank = 3/4
Pre-race routine:

Up later than I wanted and ate usual pre-race bowl of oatmeal. I like that stuff! It stays with me for a while.
Drove to race, unpacked and set up transtion area. Walked around and look at the cool bikes.
Event warmup:

Slow job around maybe 1/2 mi, to the bathroom and back and some gentle stretching.
Run
  • 20m
  • 2.2 miles
  • 09m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

I've been running all winter and my time reflected the training. I did this last year and was going about 11 min/mi and having to walk so I was very happy with this. Started at the back of the middle and stayed there for the run
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, continue my training and hope to speed up slowly
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

I can't run in cleats! The pavement was seal coat in transition and I didn't want to try to run in socks so walked/jogged as best I could to the mounting area.
What would you do differently?:

Arrive earlier and get a transition spot closer to mount area so I don't have to run so far wth bike.
Bike
  • 31m 2s
  • 10 miles
  • 19.33 mile/hr
Comments:

I like this bike course! It's flat to gently uphill on the way out and the reverse on the way back so you can make good time both ways. I passed a lot of people on the bike, making good use of my bike bell. This was the 1st event on my tri bike and it was a real improvement over last year on my road bike with aero bars. I LIKE bar end shifters!!
What would you do differently?:

again, continue to train and improve slowly.
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

I was happier with this transition than the 1st one.
What would you do differently?:

practice and get a bit more efficient
Run
  • 20m
  • 2.2 miles
  • 09m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

pretty rubbery off the bike but legs came back pretty quick. I was worried about the one hill on the course but felt pretty light going up. Pretty fun. It started to rain at the beginning of my 2nd lap but just a little bit.
What would you do differently?:

continue to train and speed up slowly
Post race
Warm down:

Hang out, take some pictures, eat chips and Salsa, add some warm clothes, it had started raining by now.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

just me and I'll work on that.

Event comments:

The event started on time and ran pretty smoothly I think. Water at the end and chips and salsa for munchies. An odd post event food but the hot salsa helped to warm me up. The volumteers were great!

Excellent!  Sounds  like a good race and you saw the results of a winter of hard training (and also the results of a new bike!)  Wish I was there with you...  Great job!
