Swim
Comments: Started on left, even with bouy line. Surprisingly, no one else was there to speak of. All others far right. I swam straight up the bouys, with no contact. Caught a few drafts, but lost them swimming through previous waves. Didn't push too hard. Saw Furndog at the turn and I think he tried to dunk me, but missed. What would you do differently?: Maybe push it a bit harder. I was a little slower than last year. But overall swim was about average for me. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: A fun ride for me. Pushed it a bit and enjoyed the lack of traffic on the course. Traded spots back and forth with a few people I knew from my AG. Some bunching up when passing slower riders. A bit faster than last year. Nutrition = 1 plain GU just before bike turn around, 3/4 small bike bottle (1/2 G-ade, 1/2 water, 3 scoops C-Pro) Transition 2
Comments: Faster than last year, no socks on run for first time. Run
Comments: Just went out at a steady pace and tried to hold it through first 1/2 and gradually increase intensity. I knew 2 from my AG were just ahead of me throughout the run and tried to keep them in sight. I managed to pass them in the last 1/2m. After the pass I heard this hard breathing in my ear, but didn't dare look over. Lucky for me it wasn't them. I don't think I could have gone any faster. Some small blisters from no socks, but nothing major. Slightly faster than last year. Nutrition = water at first 2 aid stations,(quick gulps) 1 Latte GU just before loop 2. What would you do differently?: I'll change lacing configuration on shoes to minimize slippage. Post race
Warm down: Stay in shade tent with Matt and Eric. Drink water, Jamba Juice and G-ade. Swap war stories, plan future workouts. What limited your ability to perform faster: Don't know. I guess I could come up with a few excuses. Haven't trained too much sine IMAZ, I normally do long course racing, I'm as fast as I am going to be right now???? Who knows?? Just great to be out there with your pals doing stuff alot of people only dream of. Event comments: Would give it a 5 if parking problem is handled!!! Last updated: 2007-05-22 12:00 AM

Up at crack of midnight to get a decent parking place. The race is held directly across the street from a huge shopping mall, yet we can't park in the garage. Coffee and PBJ on the way to race. No real goals since I haven't done too much since IMAZ as well as taking one for the team(I got fixed) on 5/2.
Hung out and talked to Matt and Eric, looked at cool bikes in trans, faked injury stories to people in my age group, some G-dae, GU, 2 gas-X and salt tabs about 30 mins before start.
