I'm registered.  This will be my 1st olympic distance event.  I was looking for a USAT Oly to prep for Steelhead with ample time between events.

I'm trying to decide between Johan's and Big Fish from 3disciplines. Same idea as mbmoran2 though, something far enough out from Steelhead to practice transitions and get a little racing under my belt.

I haven't decided yet - I did it last year and I thought it was a very good race.

I'll probably just do it - I love racing !!

The bike course has a nice uphill stretch from miles 6-9 where we'll gain about 200 feet.  I mapped it on BT's Route Manager:

Johan's Tri Bike Course

Well, I've registered for 2008; returning to the site of my 1st Oly.  I feel WAY more confident now with a few races under my belt.

I am planning on it. It was my first tri ever last year and was really hoping to crush my time but serious slacking on my part has put that goal in dire straits.

As far as an event put on my 3D and one put on by the this group go for Johans. Very well run and nice course. There are a few "big hills" but overall a very nice course.

Road the course on Sat. am as part of a swim-bike brick. Course is fun and matt's right, it is hilly, but nothing too extreme or killer (we'll see if that changes as of race day of course). It was pretty windy yesterday when I rode it --18-22mph winds from the W/SW --made it interesting at times when heading S or W --REALLY cool though when heading E and N --gotta love a tail wind!

Now, anyone have a clue about the H20 temp in Monterey Lake for Johan's? I picked up my wetsuit yesterday and can't wait to try it out!

Last year the water was 79deg, so those wearing wetsuits weren't eligible for awards.  It was my 1st ever oly last year and 2nd triathlon.  So, I wore my sleeveless just for confidence.  If its that warm this year, I'll go without.

Here's my race report.

can't imagine the temps are all that high yet. It has been a very cool spring, infact today was the first 80 degree day since  late April.

But we still have 2 1/2 weeks so who knows Undecided

I'm out. Training has been crap and I am bailing before it gets ugly. Best of luck to everyone in the morning. Let us know how it goes.
