Overall Rank = 171/
Age Group = Clydesdale 40+
Age Group Rank = 5/5
Event warmup:

Swam a few laps in the pool just to practice turns and get used to the water.
Swim
  • 03m 25s
  • 200 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

List my time faster. I ran up on a young lady that slowed me down.
Transition 1
  • 01m 57s
Comments:

Good T1 time compared to last year. Need to get my process down so I do the same thing everytime I race.
Bike
  • 32m 34s
  • 8.9 miles
  • 16.40 mile/hr
Comments:

I am psyched to have ridden the entire hill that kicked my butt the last two years. This hill snuck up on me. I was almost over the top when I realized this was the monster. I thought I still had it to go.
Transition 2
  • 01m 57s
Comments:

Got to get my process down so I do the same thing everytime.
Run
  • 21m 23s
  • 2 miles
  • 10m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

I really went out well on the first mile. I ran the whole first mile. I walked the aid station and then had a tough time keeping a pace on the last mile. I walked more than I had planned to.
What would you do differently?:

Don't go out so fast so I would have more left at the finish.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I need to develop better mental toughness especially during the run. My mind really wandered and it was hard to keep focused on my pace and breathing.

Event comments:

Overall, I had a great race. I knocked about 13 minutes off my time from last year. I conquerred the monster hill and I had a really good run time. The training plans from BT are really good.
