I was thinking I might like to ride the bike route for the Philly Insurance Tri olympic course once before the race. Can anyone tell me - is this a safe route to ride when the roads are open to traffic?

Thanks!

From what I hear, it's VERY dangerous to ride. Too much traffic. Here's a quote from one of the guys in charge of the race in regards to ridign the course before "I strongly suggest (in very very strong terms) that the course NOT be ridden against traffic.
In designing the course we, working with the City, created a great course that is 100% closed to traffic on race day. Unfortunately this means that parts of the course go against traffic.

As the race organizers we strongly discourage athletes from riding the course against traffic. Its dangerous and as someone posted, not worth the risk.

Train safe - and be there on race day!
