Subject: RE: Just sayin' hi My goals are pretty simple. I should start by saying that I competed in a triathlon with a friend of mine on a whim last May. I didn't train for it, and thank goodness it was a sprint distance, because I thought I was going to die at a couple of points during the race. I finished in just over 3 hours in 3rd to last place. Having said that, I really was just glad to finish. So, I've signed up for another tri that will take place in 2 months. I've been training off and on, but since I sent my entry fee, I've been training much more consistently. My goal is to finish this sprint tri in about 2 hours. This one is going to be 825 swim, 12 m bike, and 3 m run. I think this is a reachable goal because my swim time should be around 18 minutes, I think I can do the bike in about an hour, and if I can run about 12 minute miles, that will put me in the right time range. Of course, I haven't calculated for transition time - that's why I say about 2 hours. Running is definitely the hardest part for me (as you can see if you look at my training logs that I just started ). I'm very slow at it and it's not something that I particularly enjoy, so I'm in the process of changing my attitude about it. |
