Swim
Comments: This was the scariest thing I have ever done. They had all females 20-39 in the water to start. The shot went off and I felt like I had 20ppl on top of me. I got hit in the face with elbos had ppl grabbing my legs... it truly was horrifying. I had to side stroke for about 100yds just to get my breathe and get out of the pack... went into panic mode the first 50yds. Got to about the 250yd mark (our turnaround) and was able to get some open water space and actually swim like I have been in the pool. What would you do differently?: I'm going to start way out to the side in the middle or end of the pack... no more getting up front where ppl jump on you at the start! Transition 1
Comments: I had to pull on shorts and a top, then put on my socks and shoes (which I didn't bring my clip ins... so they were my tennis shoes which had to be laced up. What would you do differently?: Buy a Tri suit, no pulling on shorts and a top after swimming. Also, have my clip on pedals installed for the next race. Bike
Comments: The bike was the most comfortable part of the race, though the hills were killer to the pace. What would you do differently?: Have my clip on pedals installed. There wasn't ever a point were it was a big group of bikes that I was afraid of getting stuck in. Transition 2
Comments: I didn't have to change my shoes here, but needed some water... so I hit my water bottle before jogging off. We also had to stop our bike and dismount before getting into the T2 area... then run it in. What would you do differently?: Hydrate more before the transition area. Run
Comments: My legs felt like bricks and my HR was really high the whole time. I might have pushed it to much on the hills during the bike portion. It was very hard from start to finish. What would you do differently?: Keep pushing my self, not walk, try to pick up the pace. Post race
Warm down: Walked around eating watermelon and drinking water :) What limited your ability to perform faster: I think I needed to carbo load more... there was nothing left in me for the run. Event comments: I need to do more bike/run bricks to prep for my next race!!! Last updated: 2007-01-08 12:00 AM

Got up about 5:00 to shower, throw the hair up in a braid, hydrate and eat some oatmeal, a banana and have coffee. I was ready to go and we were off to the race site by 6:00 and arrived about 6:30.
I stretched out and did a bit of jogging to get my HR up before the swim.
