Pre-race routine:

Drank a water and ate a power bar.
Event warmup:

Rode about 3 miles from the campsite to the race.

I need a lot of work here. Got to get in some open water swims with groups of people. Everytime I got hit I got rattled and stopped. Maybe pre-race jitters had me a bit to worked up. Nice wave start. Done by age groups about 4 minutes apart.
What would you do differently?:

More open water swims, and try and get into a rhythym.
Transition 1

Needs a lot of work. Took the advise in other race reports about bringing a tub of water to rinse my feet in and I'm glad I did. Set up in the back of the transition area and I was the only one on my row. This probably slowed my transition times a little but I 'm glad I did it. The best T! time was 28 seconds so I can definetly improve.
What would you do differently?:

Practice. Set my towel out and sit on it instead of trying to sit on the bike rack.

Did o.k. for me. I have not had much practice on this bike or any road bike for that matter so I know I should improve with practice. I need to have water on my bike instead of just gatoraide. I had issues with the front derailer on the hills so my cadence was way, way down. Got passed by several people on the 2 hills. My right arm also fell asleep at the end of the race. What causes this??
What would you do differently?:

Hyrdate more, get a tune up before the race.

Practice practice. No problems getting through transition area I just need to speed up.
What would you do differently?:

Again, sit on towel to change shoes, unclip helmet on way to rack bike. Maybe try and leave shoes clicked in and run T2 in socks?

Damn hot. Got side stitches around mile 2. I walked alot more than I should have.
What would you do differently?:

Hydrate more on the bike. Wear a race belt insted of a shirt. Don't stop running.

not a bad run.  I've always tried to visit my sister around the time of this race but it never works out.
