TRI ON THE RUN
Precipitation
Total Time = 1h 00m 27s
Overall Rank = 11/207
Age Group =
Age Group Rank = 3/12
Pre-race routine:

Woke up ate what I could, packed up and headed out at 5:30
Event warmup:

Well I figured a warm-up would be pointless, but I did a 200m swim to get use to a 100m lap pool if anything. I was shivering by the time I got into the pool for the race.
Swim
  • 05m 34s
  • 328 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

Wooo what a mess this was for me. So I run into someone I'm faster then in the swim before the race, and they are seeded at #28 and I was 77. Though I think she may of done yards, not meters, I ended up being not at the pace I though. Well infact I wasn't even on the list! So I started at 6:25 time slot, when I signed up for 5:20. I passed up 4 people in the swim by 150m, after that I felt like an ass so I just cruised it in after that.
What would you do differently?:

Next pool swim I'm not signing up the day before! But I did this race so I could experience a pool swim.
Transition 1
  • 00m 36s
Comments:

Was a little too cautious getting shoes on the the wet pavement. Can't ask for anything more than 36 seconds.
Bike
  • 34m 5s
  • 12 miles
  • 21.12 mile/hr
Comments:

I can't say what went wrong, my legs just weren't with me. I have been going VERY well on the bike. Then I come to a race and ride my 2nd slowest pace in a race ever. If I had ridden like I know I could of, I think 2nd/AG was very possible. 1st wasn't due to me just not having good legs on the run either.
What would you do differently?:

Something leading up to the race went wrong, which the 2-3 weeks before the race were FAR from what I normaly do. Since I went on Vacation for a week right before. :)
Transition 2
  • 00m 47s
Comments:

Came in on the bike slow, not sure why.. didn't want to fall with the puddles I suppose.
What would you do differently?:

I'm fairly happy with it, just a few wasted seconds here or there.
Run
  • 19m 25s
  • 3 miles
  • 06m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

A course that fits me well, but like I said my legs just didn't show up to the race. My run has been better then it has ever been before, and I honestly didn't expect anything over 18min or atleast 18:30. 19:25 tossed in with the bad bike, you could say I wasn't thrilled with the race.
What would you do differently?:

Like the bike, I think the days or couple of weeks leading to the race weren't prime. Besides that I raced how I wanted to, just didn't have the speed.
Post race
Warm down:

jogged to my car and back to get my USAT card since I wasn't entered in the results.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Bad lead up to the race.

Event comments:

Good Sprint Race.
My last sprint, I had the legs to go but I lost several spots over all to poor transition(odd for me). This time I had solid transitions but no legs. Funny how that works.

hey Stephen it was good to meet you too.  i'm sure i'll be seeing you around at the races.  don't worry you'll find those legs again and when you do nothing will help the other men in your age group, you're gonna demolish them!

Hey Stephen. Don't know if you remember, but I met you at the Silverlake tri and I bumped in to you again at this race. Nice to see you again. You still had a strong showing. Good job.
