Pre-race routine:

Skipped outta work at 3:30 and when I got home there was a big chocolate chocolate chip cookie waiting for me on the kitchen counter. I was starving, so I ate it. Such a mistake...
Event warmup:

Talking with people.
Swim
  • 10m 40s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

This includes T1, and I was told I was out of the water in 9 and change, which is probably my best Lake T swim time ever. This race has grown so the mass swim start can be kinda physical. I definitely swam over a few people and pushed my way through. I may be slow but there are people slower than me so if you get in my way I'm going to kick your ass :). I was happy with the swim.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

T1 was included in the swim time. The usual T1 routine.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 36m 2s
  • 12 miles
  • 19.98 mile/hr
Comments:

There's no way this course is 12 miles long, but that's what the RD claims, so whatever...
The bike was going fine until I dropped my chain (my own damn fault) and nearly fell over. Pam said she's glad I didn't fall over because then she would have felt obligated to stop and she really didn't want to. LOL!
By now I was really regretting that cookie I ate 2 hours before. Bleh.
What would you do differently?:

Not change chain rings while cross chained.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

T2 included in run.
Run
  • 33m 5s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 10m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

Bleh. Felt like puking the whole time. I wish I had because I think it would have made me feel better. Just tried to make it back to the beach as fast as I could.
What would you do differently?:

Not eat a big cookie 2 hours before the race :).
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The cookie.

I was happy with the swim.

I'm sorry... I could have sworn I was reading one of Polly's RRs...

Good work out there. Sorry about the chain. I don't know what the deal is with yoru front Der--Bait had the same problem, as you know. Damn GURUs.

See you there next week!

You were really cruising on the bike before the chain incident and you looked good coming out of the swim.

I agree with Rob...those damn Guru's
