well, the race was a no go. no surprise there of course. the beach is a shambles. sand everywhere, homes destroyed. i'm not terribly unhappy about missing the race, but i feel bad for all those first timers who worked hard all season. this race seems to be a favorite for beginners. the race directors are in atlanta for now, there home was damaged but i don't know to what extent. funny i got an email saying they will mail out all the shirts to the would-be contestants. that's pretty cool i thought. i guess they can't do anything with them.

everyone i know is ok, some without homes, others better than that, but all alive. some people near here died.
slowly things are getting back to normal. my bike routes are mostly closed or clogged with debris, but i haven't really considered riding yet, i'm tired. i figured these weeks could be a transition period but they have turned out to be a workout of a different sort- cleaning up!
but my season turned out well after all. before the storm i had gotten in a really good, hard mock tri and i was satisfied that i would do well in the race. now i must relax and gear up for some good base mileage.

happy training everyone!

at least you made it through the storm safely...there will be other races and as a bonus, you still get the t-shirt.

Bummer.  As you know, there are a few of us registered for the Crab Trap.  Hopefully, they can still pull it off.
