Swim
Comments: The swim was okay but the water was warm and at one point I started to feel very hot. It didn't help. I started to have stomach or cramp issues about halfway because of my breathing I guess?! My HR strap was falling at each flip turns I was doing and was kinda in a way that I felt it was obstructing my breathing. When I finished, it was at waist height! My tapings didn't resisted the swim. When I got out, some of the tape was hanging :-( All in all, I think my swim was okay for what I'm able to do. (The swim time are including T1) What would you do differently?: No HR strap. Transition 1
Comments: All was good. Well, not true. Somebody else knocked my bike and when I arrived in T1, my helmet wasn't where I left it...and my sunglasses were on the ground somewhere... I started running with the bike, passed the line and jumped on the bike. I had 1 spin of the pedals and...clack! My other bike shoe unclipped! I had to jump off the bike, put the shoe, start pedaling and after a while put on the other shoe. Learning process :-) What would you do differently?: Practice a lot more those flying mounts... Bike
Comments: The bike felt good. I think it's there I had my best result. I gained a lot of time on some of the fishy fish and overtook a lot of people. I didn't get passed on the bike so it's always a good thing :-) The knee was painfree all along. The tapings were flying in the wind, it looked scary/Frankenstein style! ;-) I had to remove some parts while biking. I had a GU at the 13km mark (approx) and water. Overall, biking was good I think and at one of the turns I always was getting up on the bike and reaching about 29 mph for a little while and then going back to normal speed. Fun :-) What would you do differently?: Not much... I had to get my HR strap off during the first loop and put it in my pocket. Transition 2
Comments: I had a hamstring cramp when entering T2 so it slowed me down a bit but nothing scary. It went well except that my HR strap fell off during T2, luckily an official took it and put it on my bike as I was leaving T2 :-) What would you do differently?: Practice a lot more flying dismounts but it wasn't that bad at all. Run
Comments: The run wasn't good. Calves cramps at the beginning. Stomach cramps too. I started slow for the 2 first laps and was VERY surprised nobody overtook me!!! I was out of breath all the time. Fortunately, I was able to think about someone who reminded me of my form. It helped me getting through it. What would you do differently?: Run more... get less cramps ;-) Post race
Warm down: Talked a bit with the people there. Drank a bit and went for a 2km EZ run. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bah... is it here we list all our lame excuses? Nothing. Train harder! Last updated: 2007-07-08 12:00 AM

Bizarre time to start a race! It started at 12h30. I got up at 8am and had 2 cereal bowls. I did a few things to make sure I was ready for the race and finished gathering all of my stuff. Then I made my tapings (knee and shin). Drank some water all along until departure time...
I arrived there early and chatted with Sven, one of my teammates from the club. He's very interesting and fun. He's German who happens to be here for 2 summers now and he's with another woman teammate. We headed on the course to check the bike loop and chatted a bit. What a headwind!!!
Then, went for a run on the run loop...wow again with the wind for the last half!
