We should try to meet up with each other to say hello and wish each other well before the start.

For anyone who is doing this tri, there is a Mini-Camp 9:30am Aug 5th at Centennial Beach and it is free.

I'm all for touching base ahead of time or afterwards.  I'll be there crazy early and I plan on staying at least till results are posted (usually 30mins or so after race).

My suggestion for meeting would be just outside the main entrance to the beach as for a time I would say 6:45. Also if this is run like the women's event earlier this summer (went to watch and met a few BTs) make sure u r on time getting your stuff into the transision area and have your bike number already attached. They were sticklers about this.

Let's shoot for 6:45 and the location we can meet is just outside the main entrance to the beach there is a large rock next to a telephone pole.

That would be great! I am going to try to get there around 5 to get set up. I think I will go pick up my packet on Saturday. My name's Renee and I have a black Q-Roo and my brother has a bright red Specialized with white handlebars.

About the course FYI, if they have it set-up the same as the women's event earlier this year. This is my preception of it since I live in the area.

Swim: Water is warm and cloudy. Make sure to bring a foot wash because u will get sand on your feet and it is apx 100 to 150 yards from water to T1.

Bike: There is a little hill about 1/3 to 1/2 mile after you start. Nothing to get excited about and the the rest of the course is all but flat.

Run: Same deal as bike, the only real hill is after you cross the DuPage River but again nothing to get excited about.

I'll be there, and I'll probably be the only male in a light blue 4 inch tri-shorts.

Pappadj - 2007-08-09 8:55 AM About the course FYI, if they have it set-up the same as the women's event earlier this year. This is my preception of it since I live in the area. Just to add on to this:

The swim is cloudy, fairly warm, and in a very funky pattern.  Most people can expect it to be slower then usual as you have to make three 120-180 degree turns (no flip turns) and the middle section comes up to about 18-24" of water.  Also, be aware that the starts is usually pretty shaded so some folks get kinda chilled if your wet waiting for the start.

The bike has only one hill as Pappadj mentioned.  It is flat right out of transition (so you do have enough time to get your feet in thoe shoes) and then goes up one "hill".  You have to do that hill twice.  It isn't a very significant one.  The rest of the course is almost totally flat, fast, and very well controlled.

The run is great.  Out of transition you head through the woods, across the river and up a slow grade most of the way.  It doesn't seem like you are going up hill but you do for about the first third.  There is a pretty steep downhill portion (for running) that drops down into the park on the back section.  The last .25 mile or so is flat and great for sprinting.

I really enjoy the course layout on this one.  The swim is a bit odd but overall a very well put together race.
