Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = 106/118
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 18/18
Pre-race routine:

I visited Miami for the day Saturday and went to a children's bday party where i ate everything under the sun. Then to sergio's for dinner. Then thai late night. NOT a good prerace meal plan. Went to bed at 11:00pm. Woke up at 4:30am and went to get water and picked up my packet. Just farted around the race site and stretched. I was really intending to just have a fun workout day - not challenging myself hard.
Swim
  • 09m 59s
  • 400 meters
  • 02m 30s / 100 meters
Comments:

Had a good swim ,i felt good the entire way and did not have to do the goggle adjust thing too much.
Transition 1
  • 04m 42s
Comments:

The T1 included a long run in the sand from the beach to the transition. I did not use glasses, gloves or socks and this was the best transition i have ever had. I did not sit down at all - in and out
Bike
  • 43m 49s
  • 13 miles
  • 17.80 mile/hr
Comments:

I really did poorly on the bike- my worst bike since i began racing. Partially because i missed the tunaround and added some time to my bike for no reason - this is where i paid the price for "feasting
" the previous day - i really felt sluggish and it was a press to hold 20.
What would you do differently?:

Take it easy on the "nutrition" prerace and train more
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Good T2 as well - off with the bike shoes and on with the run shoes and out -
Run
  • 40m 47s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 13m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran 2min walked 1 min most of the way. The prerace feast killed me as well as a lack of committment in the past month - loearn the hard way. I enjoyed it though as my expectations were low.
What would you do differently?:

Stick to training prerace nutrtion again
Post race
Warm down:

Chatted wiht my buddies at keep tri-ing t shirt company. Gathered my stuff and went home. As I was chatting, a woman ongratulated me on the swim - she said i came out really fast as she was watching me- i joked and said i must have missed a buoy, but nope i was just slow- she probably thought i was in the wave behind or that at my size i would have been even slower.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

TRAINING consistency

Event comments:

Liked the race a lot - i would do it again.
