Swim
Comments: Started too far to the left. Current actually started taking me beyond the first buoy, so I had to swim into the washing machine of people to get back so I could round the buoy properly. What would you do differently?: Go with my instinct and start more to the right, which is what I kept telling myself to do before the race even started. Transition 1
Comments: It was a long run down that boardwalk! No trouble getting everything together once I was in the transition area. What would you do differently?: Ease up on the swim a bit at the end so I wouldn't be so winded for the run to the transition area. Bike
Comments: Really worked the bike hard. My goal was to beat 20 mph. I was happy to see that each mile was marked off, so I could easily tell by the current time if I was meeting the 20 mph avg. There was another female I kept leapfrogging with for most of the bike who also gave me incentive. What would you do differently?: The ride itself was as hard as I could go. The only error I made was at the U-turn. I could've taken it a little faster. Transition 2
Comments: I usually gain a lot of time in transition, but the woman I was leapfrogging with during the bike was just as fast as me. AAAHHHH!!! With my knee the way it is, I do have to take a little extra time to put on my knee support, but that's only a few seconds. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Did my best and was happy. Run
Comments: I could feel that my endurance isn't where it used to be, but I felt good even though it was a bit warm out today. Just did my best. Usually the run is my best leg of the race where I catch people, but I only passed a bunch of guys. The female who was dogging me in the bike and T2 got ahead of me, eventually finishing about 30 seconds ahead of me. I poured out all I could and it just wasn't there today. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I am sooo happy with how I did today. I feel like I did my best and I can honestly say I couldn't have squeezed another few seconds out of that course if I tried. Post race
Warm down: Nice easy walking, lots of rehydration, cold-water shower (AHHHH that felt nice), socializing. What limited your ability to perform faster: Limited training due to run injury, and still not quite 100% from the effects of my last race. Event comments: It was such a cute island/state park we raced in. It was still dark when we drove there this morning, but on the way home we could really see what a beautiful place it is up there! This was actually my first local race this year. We moved to the Jax area in March and I injured myself just a few weeks later so I missed all the local races except this one. I'm looking forward to next year! Last updated: 2007-08-11 12:00 AM

Had some coffee before we left the house to get that little caffeine jolt. Also some stretching before we left. Set up transition area, brought extra drinks (don't want to get caught wtihout enough nutrition and drink again!). Checked out the swim exit/T1 area and bike/run plan.
Just a little jogging, especially along the boardwalk we would be using for the long run from the beach to the transition area. Did a little more stretching also. Swam for a few minutes before the race started.
