![]() Swim
Comments: Very good swim overall. We were the first wave,so the director told us to get in, adn we were treading water for a good 2 minutes before we finally started. My plan was to go comfortably hard, which I did pretty well. I sighted very well until the last turn when we were swimming right back towarsd the sun and I couldn't see anything. I felt like I maintained a very steady effort and was very pleased with my swim time What would you do differently?: nothing ![]() Transition 1
Comments: There was a 1/4 mile uphill run from the lake to the transition area which sucks, but everyone has to do it. At least during this run, I remembered that I hadn't reset my bike computer after riding infrom the hotel, so I had to stop and reset my computer before starting - only a couple of seconds, but time wasted nonetheless. Overall, once I got to T1, thigs went smoothly. What would you do differently?: nothing ![]() Bike
Comments: It felt like I was going very slow for some reason. I had a good effort going, felt like I was pushing it, but wasn't getting anywhere. After the turnaround, it flet like we were into the wind the whole way home. I never felt like I was riding downwind going out, though. I don't know where I lost 90 seconds over last years ride though. I really think it was the wind What would you do differently?: drink more ![]() Transition 2
Comments: very good T2, nice and smooth. Passed 2 people while running into T2 What would you do differently?: nothing ![]() Run
Comments: I felt good going out - once again. A guy in my age group had passed me on the bike with 5 miles to go or so, and was maybe 200 yards in front of me coming out of transition. I caught him right at the 1 mile mark, and we stayed together until about the 3 mile mark, when I stopped for water and he kept going. I walked for 20 yards or so and was thinking, "I'll catch" him on the next hill. Needless to say, I didn't catch him. It was ungodly hot with no breeze - it must have died after I got off the bike. Mentally, it was a good run, because I was hurting but i ran/shuffled the whole way. No other walking breaks. I did stop long enough at the water tables to down a cup or 2 of water, but I ran the whole way, unlike last year, when I walked the last 1/2 mile up the final hill. What would you do differently?: drink more - take a bottle with me on the run ![]() Post race
Warm down: walked around drank some more water and ate a few cookies What limited your ability to perform faster: not enough fluid intake Event comments: Once again, this is a great race - a hard race, but avery good one. They decided the night before to try and move up the race time due to the heat, adn they moved it up 15 minutes. Things went off on schedule. Tons of volunteers, nice post race spread. I will continue to do this race Last updated: 2007-01-19 12:00 AM
