Total Time = 1h 40m 39s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 51/58
Pre-race routine:

I loaded up on carbs the night before and then had nothing but a protein shake for breakfast.I realize this is strange, but this really worked well for me. Had Accelerade on the bike - good stuff.
Event warmup:

Short swim in the practice area.
Swim
  • 10m 51s
  • 547 yards
  • 01m 59s / 100 yards
Comments:

I liked the time trial start.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. This was a decent swim for me.
Transition 1
  • 03m 52s
What would you do differently?:

Not sure. Just move faster in general.
Bike
  • 43m 57s
  • 12 miles
  • 16.38 mile/hr
Comments:

This is still slow, but I was pleased with the bike portion. I actually passed some people, which was motivating.
Transition 2
  • 02m 16s
Comments:

I can't do that whole jump off the bike while it's moving thing - at least not yet. I took time to take a big drink of Accelerade before the run. I doubt that's what slowed me down. It's just tough to run in those bike shoes.
What would you do differently?:

I need to play around with the seat height. It seemed a bit low.
Run
  • 39m 41s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 12m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

Despite the slow time, I did not stop to walk once even though I wanted to, so I was pleased with the run. It started getting hot on the run which is what really slowed me down.
What would you do differently?:

Hydrate better.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank water, ate lunch.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm still fat. Overall, I am pleased with my performance. I felt it was encouraging. If I lose another 30 lbs. I think I may actually be good at this thing.

Event comments:

Great race. I will be back next year. My goal is to do the crazy back-to-back which involves doing the Olympic on Saturday and following up with the Spring on Sunday.

Great race. Bummer we didn't meet. Keep doing what you're doing. I decided to become a triathlete a year ago. Since then I've lost 30 pounds and become stronger and faster. You definately can do it! Set your goals for next year and work your plan. Keep up the good work!
