Run
Comments: The first mile, i went out a little fast, but it wasn't too bad. My whole goal was to run a pretty consistently paced race, and overall i did all right. i am happy with that. i wish i were faster, but a few sections down, i will address that. What would you do differently?: i think i ran this race pretty much to what i'd decided the plan ought to be, so i can't say too much here. Post race
Warm down: hot dogs, cake, and water. lots of water. What limited your ability to perform faster: i don't train very consistently, and i think that using my inhaler before the race jacked up my heart rate. i don't train that way; why should i race that way? Event comments: i love this race; too bad they aren't holding it anymore. Ever. Last updated: 2007-06-23 12:00 AM

i had three alarms set at five minute intervals so that i'd actually wake up on time this year (last year i woke up twenty minutes before race-day registration closed, but i made it! but still.). i had a ginormous bowl of oatmeal with walnuts for breakfast; i would have had a banananana, too, but i learned long ago to not eat the last banana, even if Mom tells me i can eat anything in the house.
Driving to Schneider's headquarters, i took four hits of albuterol. This was my first run in over a month on drugs. Lately i've been experimenting with not using my inhaler before running, but i'm more comfortable using it before a race. i kind of wonder if i should, though, if i'm fine training without using the inhaler first, though.
Anyway, i got to the race site, jogged to packet pick-up, ran into one of my cousins and two of her sons, got my number and my shirt, jogged back to the car, jogged over to the port-a-potties, made use of the facilities, then stood around for a while.
See the above? That was my warm up.
