I added V8 juice once and it was just ok.  I'm sure there is some good combo of ingredients to add that would taste good.  Hopefully someone has some good ideas.

I haven't put any in smoothies but I do boil the snot out of california mix (cauli, broc, carrots) and maybe some peas, then put in the food processor with butter and milk, salt and pepper, while still steaming hot. Pretend like you are making mashed potatoes, but using veggies. Really its like hot baby food but it goes down pretty easy!

You could put spinach in it too. I got the idea from a local restaurant that makes "low carb mashed potatoes" using only cauliflower.

That sounds similar to a broccali/garlic pesto sauce recipie i have. it's good--kid's don't like it so much, but i do.

BUT...it still doesn't sound appealing...maybe the veggies and butter without blending into a puree!

Yeah, when Atkins was all the craze (which I am highly against), I sort of sneered at the mashed cauliflower phenomenon...until I realized just how delicious a ton of cheese makes an otherwise unappealing vegetable! Holy crap, it's good stuff!!

To the OP - carrots blend well with some fruits, because they're sweet. Straight carrot juice is not so bad, though it takes some getting used to.

Sometimes I throw in some wheat grass powder or some fresh alfalfa sprouts. Under two tsp. of green powder or a small handful of sprouts and you don't taste them.

I also use Peaceful Planet Supreme Meal protein shake which has the greens in it and is yummy with a packet of Splenda!

I add a few big handfuls of fresh baby spinach to my fruit smoothie every morning.  Start small and add more as you get used to the taste, which is actually not that noticeable.  In fact, I don't even like smoothies without spinach anymore because they are too sweet for me.  I also add Greens+ powder and somtimes spirulina or chlorella (in addition to spinach).  These things have a stronger taste than spinach, but again, start small.

I have heard of people adding all kinds of greens to their smoothies, but most other dark greens have a strong flavor.  If you like it, go for it, but I personally can't tolerate kale or chard or anything but spinach really.

Kristi, I tried the spinach thing this morning and I cannot taste it at ALL!! I put one cup of raw baby spinach in my morning protein smoothie (water, 2 Tbs flax seed, 2 scoops whey protein, 1 cup frozen mixed berries) and it has the same taste it always does. Thanks so much for the tip!! Always helps to get more greens in your diet.
