Run
Comments: Ran with one of my teammates for the first 8.5 miles, we were clicking off 6:35 min/mile. I felt like he was pacing me, only to find out he was thinking the same of me! It worked out great for the both of us. We were able to pick people off and bridge some great gaps. Approaching mile 9 he told me not to wait up, so I went ahead to the next group. As I passed two more teammates they told me I looked strong and smoothe, I must have looked better than I felt! I was 2nd in my AG group, but the 1st place runner took a top 3 OA spot, so I ended up with 1st on a technicality. What would you do differently?: Nothing, it was a great race and a new half mary PR. More mileage and tempo runs will keep this time dropping. Post race
Warm down: Lots of stretching a some light jogging. Took in a lot of fluids to get a jump start for tomorrow's sprint tri. What limited your ability to perform faster: More experience at this distance would certainly help. More miles and tempo runs will certainly help. Event comments: Great race, with good people. The one strange thing is that they started the 5k, 10k and half mary at the same time at the same place. It was hard not to run fast with the 5k and 10k guys at the start. Up early, had some PB on whole wheat bread and electrolyte drink.
Light jogging and stretching in addition to the always fun waiting in line for the bathroom.
