I have the training schedule that i have used through team in training. It is a good schedule because it slowly increases your amounts. however it does demand that you be in some kind of decent shape to start. Meaning the runs start at 2 miles, bikes at 5 and swims at 300-400 meters.

No set date right now. I am just wanting to train from the beginning. I am pretty out of shape right now. So, I am slowly going to the gym to get back in shape.

a simple running program is the best way to start.  don't try all of the events at once.  u need a good running (or biking) base which will take several months to develop.  also, a good strength training program at the gym will help avoid many injuries as it will help strengthen joints, muscles and tendons.  this site has a running from scratch program.

also, what helped me, is 'triathloning for ordinary mortals' by stephen jonas.  starts out with a run/walk program that leads u up to an olympic length tri...check it out at amazon or your library.

let us know if u need some more specific help or just general training ???'s

good luck,

ron

I am not too sure if my advice is a little too late, but here is my training schedule:

Sun-Brick
Mon-run 30 min
swim 1 hour (with coach)
Tues-cycle 1.5 hours
swim 1 hour (with coach)-I usually ride witha group and cut off and ride to my swimming practice
Wed-run 45 min
Thurs-cycle 1.5 hours
swim 1 hour (with coach)-I usually ride witha group and cut off and ride to my swimming practice
Fri-OFF DAY!
Sat-mtn bike for about 1.5 hours instead of road

I need to incorporate weight lifting, but I have not done so already. But I am thinking about adding it on Wed, Fri and Sat.

Also, every time I run, I do a serious ab workout and stretch extremely well.

Hope this helps.

Check out the book "Triathloning for Ordinary Mortals" I started using it about a year ago, and have now completed 3 traithlons of different lengths. It is a great bbok. Check it out. It's got different programs to follow also, depending on if you want an emphasis on Swimming, Biking or running........Later
