Email notification?

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, but hopefully someone can help me.  It used to be that when I post a message I would automatically get the email notification if someone replied to it.  Now all of a sudden I have to click the toggle email notification link and manually change it to recieve the emails.  Is there a way to make it so that I automatically receive the emails again w/out having to change it every time?
