Pre-race routine:

Got up at the asscrack of dawn, 3:15 am, to make it to the race site by 5 AM to catch the shuttle to the start line. Had some breakfast of oatmeal with soy milk and bananas. I actually laid all of my gear out the night before so it was easy to get ready and out the door in time for my ride to the race.
Event warmup:

It was cold and dark. Waited at the shuttle area for the rest of my running group then we took the LONG bus ride to the start line. The bus dropped us off a mile away from the start line so we all walked in the dark and found the porta potties. Had to use the light on my cell phone in the porta potty to see. We couldn't even tell if they were occupied because you couldn't see if the door handle was green or red. About 10 minutes before the start we took off all of our warm gear and stuffed into the drop bags and into the bus.

Comments:

This is a FAST downhill run. At mile 12 there was a slight incline in the road and it felt like the BIGGEST hill ever. After letting gravity pull me down the course for 12 miles, I had to actually work to get up that hill (if you call it a hill).I was trying to finish the race under two hours and did so with seconds to spare (and that included a potty break at mile 11). My calves were starting to cramp up a bit so I started taking endurolytes around mile 6 and gels at mile 4 and 11.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really, I gave it my all and got the results I wanted.
Post race
Warm down:

Limped around the finish line and food tent.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing, I gave it my all.

Event comments:

The marathon portion of this race is a GREAT qualifier for Boston.

Very cool, you bagged our Sub-2 Half

This seems to have been a very good year for Tucson. Both my friends were within just a couple of seconds from going Sub-3. (They finished one right behind the other)

I agree those last few miles before the turn at Bashas were pretty tough after all that "Free Speed".

Very nicely done
