I'm doing some of my biking on the bike machines in the gym.  Do you get the same benefits on the recumbant as the upright?  Is either an acceptable substitute for the actual bike?

Hey Whitney, you know I was wondering that as well. I always use the ones where your legs are out straight- not the upright one- because those are uncomfortable. I hate using the bike machines in the gym though, I don't know about you...

Yeah, I hate doing the ones in the gym too, but the bike rides are always the longest and there's just not enough daylight.  My long bike each week will be outside, however.  See, I'm thinking about doing the recumbant because it's more comfie and there's one downstairs so I don't have to go to the "real gym" where there's no sound for the tvs.
