I paid $180 for this product because it was open box return at Sport Chalet. Someone got it as a Xmas present and it was returned to the store. I think I got a great deal for my money.

overall i feel it is a large improvement from 205 or 305

It's great for runners. It's great for bicyclists. It's just OK for triathletes.

This is a great watch. I love the analysis software and all the features on the 405. For a Triathlete the sport pecific CX is the one you want as this is not waterproof.

FR405 is a great product. I have come to expect no less from Garmin since I have a long history using their GPS systems on my motorcycle (Zumo is waterproof!) as well as in my car.

As a bonus, the Garmin Connect website is fantastic and adds another dimension to the utilization of the FR405, allowing you to analyze your workout in a number of very useful ways .

If you want a unit to race Tris in wait till summer and get the new 310XT.

I like it for what it is supposed to be able to do.

Overall I'm glad I went this route rather than the alternatives.

I will be adding the cadence sensor soon and likely the foot pod.

All in all I am pleased with the watch/gps.

Net positive, I really like this device and see a great deal of utility and the ability to improve my training with the data it produces.

I gave this thing 4 full workouts of running and biking and took the hunk of junk back to the store where I got it on sale. For the same price I bought another 305 (first one was "lost" in the airport).

One of the best trainig tools I have bought to date, ease of use is fantastic, and it has all the tools to be a great training tool, GPS, HR monitor, lap mode, pace calculation the list goes on and on.

I love my 405 and train with it all the time, on the bike and while running.

It's been a great GPS and HRM watch. It loggs everything that I want it too and a little more. I find my self running just to track where I run. I run alot of trails and it's cool to see where I go in Google Earth. I would buy again.
