  • Comments: A fine Central Park race. I'd love it if they had something besides gatorade on the course, as a lot of halves do - fruit, etc. would be nice. However, great volunteers and 5,000 people makes for a fun

  • Comments: I knew I was going to go to this race regardless of the cough/throat thing. It's part of the 9+1 needed to get a spot in the 2011 NYC marathon (which is on the list). I also knew that the race would count as long as I started. I most likely should not have run at all and get some medicine but...I also wanted to see how I would react to pain/discomfort/mental issues because I know the IronMan 70.3 in July will HURT HURT HURT. This race worked out well in the schedule. Soon after Disney so two HM in 2 weeks is something special. It's enough time to recover and prepare for Shamrock and also lots of time before July, in case something really bad happened. As I get closer to Shamrock I'll need to start taking less chances as that is the 16-week mark before IM 70.3. This was a race I did understanding the risks but it was well worth the knowledge about myself that I gained.

  • Comments: Not really much to do at the finish line, also the finish doesnt; have any arch or banner of any kind so no real incentive to see to motivate you to sprint in the end. Otherwise a very nice run

  • Comments: As usual very well organized, the only thing I did not like was that you had to drop of any gear you wanted checked by 8 AM and the race only started at 8:30 AM - this would have left you in the cold for 30 Mins.

  • Comments: This is the coldest weather I have ever run in. Having lived in Hawaii most of my life, it was kind of bizarre to see icicles on some guys with longish hair, icicles on beanies, and also grabbing frozen cups off tables.

  • Comments: I skipped out on the post-race food. It was just outside the park over on the West side, but my sister's was back on the East side. Without dry clothes, I didn't want to spend more time outside than I had to. But the race itself seemed well organized. Maybe I'll go back and run one with my sister when the weather is a bit nicer.

  • Comments: I still had fun here, even found myself talking with some people at around mile 10. I guess I have more cardio in me that I thought. Physically, I need to take better care or risk long term injury again. I'm not in as bad shape as I was for the last 1/2 but certainly need to improve more. I'm anxious to see what happens for the Bronx 1/2, even more for the NYC 1/2 on Aug 5. It can only get better from here. :)
