  • Comments: Craig didn’t make it. Lady who trained during the heat of the day didn’t make it. Poopy pants – that will remain a mystery. This race had the highest drop out rate in ironman history. Thank you Courtney, Shelley, Monette, North Carolina summer, Borland, salt sticks, and everyone else who supported me in this year long endeavor.

  • Comments: After 1,990 miles and 8 months of training, the road to Iroman came down to that last 1.2 miles. It is 20% physical and 80% mental. Only a winner can dig down deep enough to pull one out like that. I have learned a lot about myself on this journey, although I learned more in 16 1/2 hours on the race course than I have know for the previous 37 years or my life. Most of all I know that I am no quitter. Finshed the entire 140.6 mile race in a little over 16 1/2 hours. To date, the proudest moment of my life. I would rather live one day as a lion, than a lifetime as a lamb.

  • Comments: Good organization overall, but 2 slight problems: 1) no volunteer assistance in T1 changing tent 2) course ran out of water at a couple aid stations - fortunately I swam and biked just fast enough to avoid being affected, but HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN????

  • Comments: Good race overall. Volunteers are the best i have ever seen. They did run out of water at some of the last bike stations.

  • Comments: Well maybe as I talked about in the run section the finish line energy isn't free. There is the $550 entry fee, about $10 grand in equipment, coaching, and travel fees, plus all the hours training. I'm still not sure how I feel about how expensive this sport has become. It was disappointing that the organizers didn't have an aid station from mile 87-107 on the bike and that they ran out of water at the aid station before mile 87. It became just one more thing to overcome, when you already have enough to deal with over 140.6. Hopefully they will learn from this and be better in the future. I hope that I do the same and learn from this and be better in the future. The swim and all the aid stations on the run were outstanding. I thought I would never do an Ironman, but I'm so grateful for the opportunity to complete this race. Many people do these races as some sort of spiritual journey; to find out something about themselves or to check it off a bucket list. It was not about that for

  • Comments: The extreme heat also led to a bike aid station and some run stations being out of water. Didn't affect me all that much as I carried three bottles on the bike, but definitely seemed to be not so good for others. Otherwise it was a very well run race and a great experience. Lousiville fans and people was awesome, tons of support on the run and bike. Would definitely recommend it.

  • Comments: I heard they ran out of water on the bike course. Only the mile 80 station was out when I was out there. NOT GOOD. Other than that, it was amazing!

  • Comments: Overall I achieved my goal of finishing my first Ironman. I did manage to have some fun and meet some nice people along the way, including another 27 y/o girl named Jennifer from Illinois wearing the same Hammer nutrition tri top as me! Ha! I would do this race again, and plan on doing some more hill training and working on my bike speed for next time!! Don't be scared of Louisville!!!

  • Comments: My main issue, as has been previously stated by others, was the short supply of water on some of the bike aid stations. I also experienced some of the run aid stations running out of cups. That is not acceptable, especially considering that is was not yet 10:00PM! The volunteers were incredible and were spot on at every interaction, from registration to the race course! Kudos to each and every one of you! I would do another IM-distance race but may migrate to a non-WTC race due to the fee increase ($700.00 might be past my breaking point) and the lack of swag offered. I'll look at B2B, Rev3, Redman or one of the others first before taking the m-dot plunge again. I'm glad I did it but am also glad it's over! Next year I'm looking forward to short-course racing again!

  • Comments: The race was very well supported in my opinion. Was pretty hot, definitely a lot hotter than 2009. INTERESTING STATS: -There were actually 200 less finishers than 2009 and the average time was about 47minutes slower. -They announced at the awards banquet that 2555 athletes started the race, but only 2157 finished, there was a 15.6% DNF rate - 398 athletes. Over 400 athletes also didn't start the race

  • Comments: This was a great race with a few exceptions. I can't say enough about the volunteers and spectators. The time trial swim start is great if you are not a fan of getting beat up while swimming but part of me wishes I would have done a mass start IM. I highly recommend this race just be prepared to be warm. One week later I feel great. The first few days were a little slow but not bad. I need to get back to training this weekend but just cut it down dramatically to please the family. This was great experience that I would definately like to do again (I just don't want to train for one again). I ended up with my goal time but placed higher than expected. % Below. I thought maybe top 1/2 definately not top 1/3. Probably top 1/4 when you thrown DNF's in the mix. AG Overall Swim 26% 23% Bike 50% 39% Run 44% 40% Overall 41% 32%

  • Comments: The bike course is the only thing that would bring me back to this race. The bike was beautiful, challenging and fun, but the run course was the exact opposite. The run was course seemed dirty and empty. The Time Trial swim was more trouble than it was worth. I would rather have a wave start or a mass start and take a few more elbows to have more room on the course later.

  • Comments: Without a frame of reference - I can say I loved this race. I thought the volunteers were incredible, the fan support was amazing and everything about the day was better than I had expected. The time trial swim start is perfect for new swimmers and the bike course is one of the best rides I have ever done based on scenary, road quality and terrain.

  • Comments: I've heard a number of people who had issues with aid stations running out of water and other supplies. I didn't have any issues. In my opinion, WTC is beyond negligent for letting any aid station run out of water during an Ironman. Shame on them. The volunteers, however, were a different story. I truly cannot believe how amazing each and every one of them was. I really wish I could contact everyone who helped me and tell them how much it meant to me. There are no words. The people of louisville and the surrounding communities were also wonderful. from the very beginning, every single person I came in contact with in my 6 days there was wonderful. There is a special place in my heart for Louisville now. I am so grateful to have done this as my first.

  • Comments: My goal time on the swim was 1:10 to 1:20 Nailed it. My goal time on the bike was sub 7 hours Nailed it. My goal time on the run was 5 hours missed it by a long show. All in all I wanted to at least finish my first IM in under 15 hours. I made it by 10 minutes and will be back to go for sub 13 next year. I did have an issue when them running out of water at the LaGrange water stop. How does that happen during an IM? I really did not notice the heat so I must have done a good job a keeping my self cool

  • Comments: When I started this report, I felt like I would never try another full distance race. I don't know now. I can do better. I felt like not hitting my goals would be a failure for me. Boy was I wrong. If you have ever done a full distance event and finished, you are a hero to me. I don't care if it took 17:00:00 to do it. If I ever see you out with a Ironman tattoo, I will speak and you will know how much you inspire me. This was the hardest thing I have ever done, and you are all my heros!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comments: The volunteers and people of Louisville are AMAZING. Really kind. I can't say more about them. Staying at the Galt house was convenient, but those elevators? Yikes. 4 elevators is NOT enough! It became such a pain. And some things were changed from my last IM. No finisher tape, no finisher plates, no finisher certificate. However, I did have some new amazing experiences. I got to do the pre-race underwear run, where my team won most colorful! And, I got to take a carriage ride with Bill the awesome Belgian, got to visit Churchill Downs (again!). Plus, I had my own Louisville Slugger bat made with the IM Loo logo on it! Most amazing was at the post-race banquet, where I went to get a drink and saw a man wearing a finisher jacket with the design of the jersey I have coveted for the past 2 years with a racehorse on it. I told him how much I wanted the jersey, but had to wait till I could do the race, and now couldn't find it anywhere, even on ebay, and I'd love to buy it if I could.
