  • Comments: This was really fun. I was able to ride up all of the hills. I didn't fall down. It was nice to stop at the top of the hills and wait for my friends. It was nice to chat. I feel great today. Had some cramping in the evening - needed hydration. Legs are fine today - shoulder is sore. I guess I pull on my brake hood a little too much when climbing.

  • Comments: It hurt. I had little left at the end. Its been awhile since I've been one a ride where I was begging for the end to appear. Despite it being slightly over my head I might come back next year with better gearing, less weight, and more climbing experience. I'd like to do it without walking.

  • Comments: Beer and food were good and plentiful. The 2 aid station stops were stocked and volunteers friendly. I spy with my little eye, the following peeps: Tripletmom (Tammy) behind me in the parking lot, with donnawiz and her two friends Dan and Norm(correct?). There was Tony 2Goggs, Lazymarathoner (Kristen), Whizzzzz and MissKelly, Craig and Amyjo (caught them around the 2nd rest stop, Wavedog (BEER!), mndiver and his Kelly, bertgwen, Schmize (what a kick-azz biker, doing the 200K in a great time!), Holly and ****bb(??) (dude, I need to clean my ears and try to remember who you are, sorry). Well, it was calling peeps, trying to figure out who's getting together and where, and yada yada. I went down to the start, and everybody already left. I waited for awhile, but didn't see anyone. Had a toidy break in the port-a-potty at the start, waited a little longer, then took off. Followed a couple of people and we missed the first turn! Unbelievable. So had to backtrack a little and get

  • Comments: Sorry this is so long. I just felt you all needed to know how terribly long and hilly this crazy course was. I would recommend you all do it so you can say `I did it.' It's definitely a feat. Plus 18 percent of the field were women. And they represented! Thanks 18 percent!

  • Comments: Best bike race I've ever been in (that is not a statistically relevant statement as this is the only one); great volunteers and support along the way. I think they could have some more water stations, which I will use (and not ride by) next year. Great, great, challenging ride.

  • Comments: Overall, I thought it was an excellent ride. I would for sure sign up again for it next year. The only reason it isn't a 5 in my book is that I need to drive up the night before and stay in a hotel.

  • Comments: I originally planned on only doing the 100k route. But I decided to do the 200k instead. I was up to the challenge. I felt great the entire day and my legs were even better. Everything was going great until the final rest stop. I was talking with one of the sag guys and he said to me that there was a storm moving in. I told him impossible, it is sunny with a few clouds. He told me to look to the west and I did and there it was, THE STORM. I only had 24 miles left on the last leg of the ride or I could take a short cut and just ride into the finish which was about 5-6 miles away. I decided to play it safe and ride into the finish. I got rained on and my brakes absolutely sucked when they got wet so I am glad I didn't attempt to finish the course. This is a great challenge ride with plenty of rest stops and food. If you have a chance you should give it a go.

  • Comments: There were only two rest stops on the course with a few additional water stops. This really wasn't enough. Many people ran out of water because they were too far apart. I wasn't impressed with the medical staff. One of the EMS people wanted to put antiseptic on my cuts, but a volunteer said they couldn't because I had road rash. Nope, I have deep cuts from my chain ring. I found that really annoying It would have been nice to have more information about the ride in packet pickup, especially about logistics of the ride. Many of the volunteers weren't very well informed either.

  • Comments: As the name implies this is the Horribly Hilly Hundreds. I did the 100k. It was supposed to be shortened by four miles but my bike computer reads that I completed 64 miles. I will have to make sure it is calibrated correctly. I could not believe the number of people riding triathlon/TT bikes. They have to be insane. I was going downhill on one portion doing 46 mph and a guy passed me in the aero position as if I was standing still. It was pretty much straight where we were but I had an oh shit moment watching him. I really liked this ride. The first half of the ride is alright. Not to bad. I did really good on the hills. I kept a high cadence and just worked my way up the hills. I would pass people on the climbs and then they would pass me on the downhills because I was to much of a chicken shit to do over 40 mph. They had two rest stops on the 100k. Plenty of food and drink. Several water stations out on the course as well. There are several of these types of rides around this
