  • Comments: The volunteers were absolutely incredible and every water/food stop was like a dance party. The course is much less friendly, but for a first HIM I couldn't be happier. I will say this, and I've bugged friends and family enough with this, Ironman Muskoka will be my first full next August but I wouldn't have signed up if I had done the Half beforehand. All race data was pulled from the Ironman website, however I have included conflicting watch data as well. I'm still working on Multisport mode and remembering to shut the darn thing off.

  • Comments: How hard is it? From the athlete guide, "The challenging Ironman 70.3 race has long served as a tune-up for Ironman world champions Mirinda Carfrae and Craig Alexander one month out from the big day in Kona." Uh, yeah. Definitely a good course and venue. Ironman branded event, so you know they'll have all the accoutrements. Would consider doing a full IM there, but I would definitely need to train more (or at least more specifically).

  • Comments: Although I wasn't planning on doing this race it was a fun experience. I would have much preferred doing Kona in 5 weeks, but that didn't happen. I was able to get a 70.3 WC slot on a challenging course. I've now got a year to be ready for that race! I was the second non-pro from the US to finish - definitely mostly Canadians doing the race - heck, I was born in Nova Scotia, so I could be Canadian if I wanted. The support was good for this race and the post race food was excellent. I didn't stick around for the awards ceremony - I guess I would have received something for 5th - as I had 6+ hours of driving back to Syracuse.

  • Comments: Marc already did this in his RR, so I can’t be the first, but a huge thanks to the Fred D group, and BryanCD from purgatory. A lot of knowledgeable, helpful people, who have given me countless bits of advice and support, for which I am very thankful. As soon as I finished I decided I’ve had enough of this race for a while. It really is a tough course and the run doesn’t seem to offer any real respite. I’m ready to try some different courses, and see how I perform. With that said, I just may be back at some point to try and chase that 5:15….

  • Comments: This race is amazing, there's a reason people travel across the world for it and I'm very lucky to be only a few hours away. Huntsville is a fabulous little town and its people welcome all of the athletes with open arms. Volunteers are fabulous - it's great to see so many kids out helping and getting enthusiastic about it. Hills are a little overkill, that's all. The entire race weekend is very well organized. Imagine I'll do it again after treating myself to some easier 70.3 races in the next few years :)

  • Comments: This is a tough race but an incredibly well organized race. The scenery is beautiful and there is a very laid back sense to it. I have to send out a special thanks and appreciation to Fred's mentor group. These are a bunch of knowledgeable and friendly people that are extremely supportive and provide tons of great racing and training info. There are several times during the race I thought of things Fred, Bryan and others have shared. Also, there are 3 or 4 lines of information I got from Bryan Dunn that directed my run pacing and training. This made my race. All through the very limited communication channel he has to share his wealth of knowledge

  • Comments: Overall very well done race, however I was disappointed that the expo closed early, so I wasn't able to purchase anything to commemorate finishing the event. It's a shame, because I had money burning a hole in my pockets that day! Get them when they are tired! Course was very challenging, but a lot of fun, and I think it was the upper limit of what I am able to do currently, but obviously not above! Very happy overall. I'm glad I did it, and will be back next year for more!

  • Comments: That was a tough race ! But did it. I really felt I was supported and cheered by all my friends and family from all over the world and it helped me a lot on the run, really. It was funny to noticed that they were actually doing an almost live re-transcription of the race thanks to ironman live on my FB page. That was funny to read after the race. Thanks. Even though I went trough some difficult moments, when it was very hard, I never though it would have been impossible to do, impossible to finish. Training paid off. Now, time to recover, to digest this race and will start thinking of the next one in a couple of days... For the records, my crazy dude that went ballistic on the bike, before I warned him and eased down, ran his PB on the half marathon. He thanked me for this little advice ;) Final note: Thank you Volunteers for all you've done. This is thanks to you we are able to have races so well organized! You deserve the same medal we all had !

  • Comments: This is a very challenging course but a really fantastic race. Love the caliber of pros and the field - i just didn't really see them since I was in the back. But it is also fantastically well organized. It was fantastic for a weekend away in the Muskoka region which is just beautiful. It is 99% probable that I'll be back for more next September!

  • Comments: Volunteers were awesome! Race was one of my best experiences ever. Having the Pros like Craig Alexander and Mirinda Carfrae there to race was inspiring to me and others. I recommend this race to everyone and especially Canadians. Having this race in our backyard gives a great feeling of fulfillment. I will hopefully do doing this race next year and hope others train hard and will give it a shot. Hope my race report has helped to understand how fun and challenging it can be. Always remember why we love this sport so much and you'll have fun in your worst of times! Happy Training and Racing!!!

  • Comments: I liked it and had an OK time, the event and accomidations sort of broke the bank and will deffinetly make it hard to get into the longer distance races in the future, will most likely be limited to 2-3 total race a season, two cheap little ones and 1 longer good one like this.
