  • Comments: Parvin State Park was the right size race for me. Laid back and everyone was so friendly and encouraging. I went to the Philly tri this weekend, too. Exciting, but glad I was just a spectator at it -- this time.

  • Comments: I'm demoralized today because my buddy who did his first race beat me by 5 minutes. He passed me on the bike and I couldn't stay with him. Knew that if I didn't stay with him on the bike, I'd lose him on the run since he's a faster runner than I am. I'm feeling sorry for myself and I'm sure it will only last a day or two but it still sucks.

  • Comments: I enjoyed this race. I did the duathlon last year. It's a nice area and the folks that run it are nice and know what they're doing.

  • Comments: Liked the race a lot. Was organized and on time and will probably do this one again next year if sprints are still my game.

  • Comments: I like this event, although I still want to whine about the swim (which I think was longer than claimed, doggone it!). I've now done three of the DQ venues (Belleplain twice, Marlton Lakes twice, and now Parvin) and I really like this one; good one to put on the calendar every year. I can't complain about the DQ races...they do a nice job and their events are a good time, plus they give you so many events. I'd like to see bigger crowds (like they have at Marlton Lakes), but 235 isn't bad.

  • Comments: Good location, well run, well timed. Bad transition area setup. Lake was shallow & lots of algae.

  • Comments: Great race overall. The race director kept referring to how great a field we had today. I’m not sure if he was being serious, or just trying to make everyone feel better if they didn’t finish where they’d hoped. Either way, I was surprised at how well I did! I was 34th overall (out of about 160, I’m waiting for the “official” results), and placed 3rd in my age group (Male, 30-34)!! For the first race in 707 days, I was very happy. I find this pretty significant because the toughest age groups for men are 30-34 and 35-39 (the latter being the toughest). Just fyi - for women it's late 30's to early 40's that have the best endurance athletes. You might think it's the young kids in their 20's, but it takes a long time to build the endurance necessary to maintain speed in a triathlon. Now I feel even better! Overall, great way to get back on the racing “horse.” The transitions went well; I don’t feel like I lost hardly any time. Granted, I didn’t have a wetsuit to contend with,
