  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: This was a good race. Since COVID caused some logistical issues it wasn't what I've heard it has been in the past. Hopefully this crap will become more sensical and we can resume life soon.

  • Comments: For my first ultra, this couldn't have been better, great weather, a great course and great support. The course covers a huge state park and it's beautiful scenery. It was challenging but not too rough for a first timer. I would recommend it for anyone, experienced or not.

  • Comments: Although this is a highly popular race I find it to be unorganized. Packet pickup was Friday night or only half an hour before race start on Saturday which created long lines for pickup and insane lines for the port-o-pots which resulted in a delayed start. This has happened at each of the previous 3 years that I've done the event and I find it stupid that they don't make a change. It seems it's just accepted that they'll not start on time. The manned aid stations are wonderful - great volunteers and good food selection although the only fruit they had this year was bananas. I was thankful I'd brought my own oranges as I crave them on long runs. One A/S had pickles which I tried and actually really liked - the crunch and saltiness. Have to remember that for the future. The unmanned A/S ran out of water after the first loop which has also always been the case and they never check it. Otherwise, an overall average race at a beautiful state park but they're the only race in this

  • Comments: It has to be a huge challenge to organize a winter ultra. I've run an aid station for an ultra (in good weather). My hat is off to these guys for making this a good race!

  • Comments: This is a great Ultra race. They advertise that it's within a days drive of 80% of the population of the United States. Come out and join the fun.

  • Comments: The start was late because people were still coming into the venue but I didn't see it as a big deal. It seems like VEEP Races is a little slow to post results to their races. I think this should be an area they should work on. Also I think it would be a good idea to advertise what sites the results will be posted on the soonest.

  • Comments: This was tough! Two days later, and I feel much worse than two days removed from the Iron Distance race I did six weeks ago. Glad that my year is over!

  • Comments: I just love this event. Playing in the mud on the trails, racing through the woods. Great soups and stews afterward. I'm thinking about the full 50k again next year.

  • Comments: I don't know about this ultra stuff. I guess I typically feel this way after marathons too, so we'll see in a few days or weeks, but that was painful! It's hard to tell how much better I might have felt and performed without the mud and with a slower start. The first 2 loops were OK considering some significant but probably wise pit stops, but the 3rd was rough.
