  • Comments: This was a good race - well organized, on time and the volunteers were awesome and stood out there in the rain and cold the entire time I was out there which has not always been the case for me. I found out later after I got home that I placed 3rd Athena. Of course, I didn't know when I finished and they had just completed the award ceremony just before I got there so I didn't get the neato trivet that said Desert Tri 3rd place on it. This year's time is 20 minutes faster than in 2008. I'm pretty happy with how it went yesterday in spite of the rain which as it turned out didn't seem to bother me that much.

  • Comments: I like this race. I think the organizers do a fine job. Some people would like more food choices, but I'm so damn picky as long as there's water and a banana right away that's fine. I don't go for burgers and pasta or beer anyway. I brought my own hard boiled egg and choc. soymilk anyway.

  • Comments: I have done this race the last 3 years and it's generally well run. I was a little disappointed that there weren't space blankets at the finish line, I didn't expect it but thought the RD would have checked the forecast and planned ahead. This race was moved from April to March last year which increased the chances of bad weather for Southern California. I love this race but it was miserable this year.

  • Comments: The rain put a damper on things. If there would have been no rain, it would have been perfect conditions. But it was cold and wet.

  • Comments: I really enjoyed this race. The RD was great to work with on a couple of logistical questions I had and the volunteers were awesome. I know it sucked for them having to stand out in the rain for a few hours, so I definitely thanked them whenever I could. I will do this race again for sure.

  • Comments: For as miserable as the conditions were, overall, it was a pretty good race (time-wise) for me. Go figure. Maybe all that training actually helped.

  • Comments: This is a great race in a cool location. It can be hot, sunny and windy but that is what the desert is all about. I like the fact that this race is low-key and you can pick up your packet race morning. I have 2 gripes this year. The second run aid station ran out of water! That blows for back of the packers like me. And last year they had really cool soaked icy towels to put on your head at the finish. Not this year.

  • Comments: I loved this race. Thought it was really well put together. The venue was just gorgeous, and the routes were rocking. This is a race I would recommend for sure. I am certain that almost anyone would enjoy it, as it was also really scenic. It also helps that it had 1000 participants, and the atmosphere was electric.

  • Comments: With a short race like this, my swim ability is exposed...I had the fastest bike/run splits, but the swim put me too far behind to catch up. I had an excellent bike/run and I am very pleased with another Podium Finish!

  • Comments: Fun event. Nice workshop the day before. Chip timing. No expo and limited food/drink after finish. Pretty site and comfortable swim course.
