  • Comments: I wish they gave finisher's medals. =( In any case, I'm very proud to have Bernard as part of our Tri-Rookies group. His attitude and positive energy rocks! In addition to that, I'm happy to be part of such a group myself, we all balance each other out and hold each other accountable. Eat that frog you beastmode Tri-Rookie pignuts, hehehe! ;)

  • Comments: The only reason I say Average for this is because the parking situation is truly a nightmare. Although we came early to get good parking they wouldn't let us leave until 10:45. I think I trained well for this event. Although I could have tweaked a few things in my training here and there I finished under my desired goal of 1:30 and finished faster in my swim and bike than I thought that I would. I was really hoping to crack 22 minutes on my 5k but knowing that I walked up a hill and still hit 23 minutes felt pretty good too. Again, I couldn't have done this without the support of my incredible wife. Roland thank you for pushing me on the bike and giving me good swim workouts. Lisa you were incredible in your first triathlon, my swim was great because you really are a dolphin! I was so happy to see such a huge crowd for support (Jeni-I can't believe the race announcer pulled you on stage because of the signs you made, Brian, Brett and Sam). The Tri-Rookies get my thanks for

  • Comments: I did not see anyone with a finishers medal. I was hoping to get one. Very organized race. Very popular. Alot of pro elites and pro AGs competed. It was very nice to see the military guys, policemen, and firemen compete and chat with. Parking was a nightmare though, argh! I'm pleased with my overall performance in this race because it was tougher than my last (1st ever) one. That was flat compared to this rolling hills one. My interval training and swim technique practice since my first race last July has proven very helpful and it showed. I decided to hold back a slight bit here to avoid injury because my next race is going to be the grueling Magic Mountain Man Olympic Triathlon in a month! No holding back next year! ^_^

  • Comments: The OC tri clubs are superhuman! Great race. The only complaints I have are that the parking was sort of a disaster, and there was poor security at transition. I was there early, and the volunteers didn't know where to send people other than those who carpooled with 3+ passengers to the lot by the expo. Also, transition security was a disaster. All kinds of spectators were milling around transition, and no one checked me or my bike when I left. Bikes will be stolen if this promoter doesn't shape up. This was substandard for any SoCal tri, and the college/amateur tris have better security and management of volunteers. results: http://www.geminitiming.com/posts/pacific-coast-triathlon-results/

  • Comments: The Saturday before this race, I met a friend/ ultra endurance cyclist who is training for Furnace Creek 508. We hit the San Gabriel Mtns where I rode 60+ miles with over 6000' of climbing. I was tired and sore for this race- exactly where I wanted to be. Overall I was pretty stoked with my preformance as I did not expect to be fast whatsoever, but to maintain a steady pace.

  • Comments: The swim segment cancellation was a bummer but being my first tri, I was more prepared physically and mentally than expected. Left with an empty feeling and lack of satisfaction because my training was focused on my worse area (the swim) The event itself felt like the two mock tri's I completed the weekends prior to the taper week and I was not sore at all. Left with more confidence but the perfect temperature, gorgeous scenary, and moderate effort level made me feel lik this even was too good to be "tri"

  • Comments: Considering that it's been going on for many years now, I was really surprised at how disorganized it seemed. Race course confusion, not enough water, closing event shut down before the last racers hit the finish line. It was disappointing. Main race staff were often unfriendly and barked out orders, but the volunteers, especially the youth, were great--helpful, friendly and looked like they were having a good time.

  • Comments: Parking for this sucked. Had no idea that I would have to park so far away from the transition area otherwise I would have left much earlier.
