  • Comments: No time clocks on race course except for finish line. I didn't wear a watch so had no clue of my times. Was lucky I PRed. Very tight in transition area. Would be nice to spread us out but I don't think that would be possible. Bike course had too many turns causing a lot of lost momentum.

  • Comments: Overall, this was a great race and Augusta is a great venue! I understand why so many first-timers target this one, with the easy swim and flat run. The bike is challenging, but if you've trained, it's not too bad. The biggest issue is that Augusta can be very hot even in late September. I know that there were many that didn't finish. Generally, I have tried to spread out my Ironman races and not hit the same venue twice, but I do think I'd be happy to take another shot at Augusta. It seemed like a nice town to visit and it was a great host city. Also, with better training (and better weather), this is a PR course.

  • Comments: Great race all and all. very fast swim, hilly ride and great run with lots of cheering and flat. The only negative I found was the challenge to get back to transition to collect bike and equipment. most roads were closed so we had to walk about a mile to get to transition then back again.

  • Comments: This was my first HIM. It is a great race for a first HIM with a lot of crowd support in the downtown area on the run.

  • Comments: This was only second 70.3 so I don't have much to compare it to. I loved the swim portion, which is clearly reflected in my unrealistic times. The bike course is a bit hilly but scenic. If you're in the earlier waves and not a fast rider, it does get a bit crowded and hairy as the other waves start catching up. The run course is flat and spectator friendly. I would defintely do it again.

  • Comments: The race venue is great. The city did a great job of hosting the event. The people of Augusta are great. The course beat me, but I will book this one again and I will have my revenge...

  • Comments: This is a very well run race considering the logistics of not being able to have a central transition area. The volunteers and support people were great! That being said, Augusta is not what I expected. It was a bit run down, a lot of run down houses and empty buildings. All things considered, I thought it was organized well. I would definitely recommend Augusta, especially for someone who is not a great swimmer.

  • Comments: Great race, great venue, great volunteers, great town. I can now see why WTC can charge a premium for their events. They put on a great race. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out for my first 70.3.

  • Comments: The race is very, very well run. The city of Augusta are amazing hosts, the volunteers are phenomenal, and the on-course support is excellent. I don't know if there's a better run with regards to cheering, screaming spectators anywhere. The run course is packed. It's a pretty exciting atmosphere.

  • Comments: Great race. I was kind of thinking I had a 4:30 in me but knew it would be hard. Took a lot of mental strength to keep pushing on the run. Physically the whole race was easy until mile 5 of the run, then it got brutal.

  • Comments: Hardest but most enjoyable triathlon I have done yet. It was my first half ironman and I would highly recommend it for any first timer. Weather and course were perfect. The event was well organized and planned with the only exception being that the finish area is over a mile from transition. Parking limited at transition left most of us to park near finish area. Not ideal for bringing a bike and gear that distance after completing 70.3. At least there are busses taking you back to transition. I rode my bike back most of the way. Still a great event. I would do it again next year but I will be competing in my first full Ironman in Chattanooga.

  • Comments: WTC puts on a good event. The volunteers were absolutely PHENOMENAL. Everyone was gracious and helpful and seemed so happy to be there. On course aid was top notch. Those people on the run course were absolutely phenomenal. They were cheering fools. For a first timer to HIM, this is the perfect venue. River assisted swim and a flat run. Can't get much better than that. The bike course does have a few roads that are rough, rough, rough.

  • Comments: The race was well organized with lots of volunteers everywhere. Running downtown was awesome. There were so many strangers that encouraged me the whole run it was unbelievable. I thought this was a great race for a first timer and would recommend it for anyone's first HIM. I will try and do this race again.

  • Comments: Overall, it was a great time on a fun course. Logistically getting back to transition to get all of your gear and such is challenging but everyone has to do it so people are cooperative and helpful. First HIM is in the books! Thank you, Augusta.
