  • Comments: This has been the best race I've ever done (first ever Olympic distance) and being that it's the largest tri event in the country, it was very impressive how well it was organized and put on. Killer event!

  • Comments: Fun race- still concerned that swim was not cancelled given all beaches had swim ban and sewage was released on Thur/Fri in Wilmette into Lake Michigan (15 miles north); Saturday's swim was cancelled; Monday's swim sign was caution

  • Comments: Since this was my first triathlon this size I'm ecstatic that I finished and I'm going to use these times and this experience to help assess the improvements I need to make for next year. There is much improvement to be made here. I have to find a better way to keep track of my overall time during the race. I believe had I known I was only 16 minutes away from 3 hours I think I would have hustled a little more here and there and shaved off a lot of that time.

  • Comments: I was very impressed with Accenture and the quality of this race. There seemed to be volunteers for the volunteers, everyone was helpful and accommodating. The fact that the waves started right on-time was impressive since I have done many races that had just a few hundred people and still could not start on-time. I was definitely pleased that I had gone downtown a few weeks prior and mapped out parking, anticipated bathroom stations - there were a few spread out off the main course, and gauged the distances/nutrition correctly. Pleased with results, my goal was 2:40 and although I did not perform the swim as planned I managed to hang-on, pick up time on the bike, and survive the run. Look forward to another Olympic distance next year, possibly this one, just not sure I like navigating the crowds.

  • Comments: Like last year, this is a fun race. With so many people, you need to expect some slow points on the bike and run but the venue is excellent and the race organizers have their act together. The prerace expo is good and everyone seemed to have a good time.

  • Comments: I thought the race path coming out of the transition 2 was too narrow. Too many people walking across the path. The bike was okay but Lake Shore Drive sucks for biking. Not a very smooth road!

  • Comments: I have to say that it is impressive to move that many people through three sports that efficiently. It is tough that we have to wait so long after transition closes before our race starts, but they do a great job overall. They could have used more porta-potties and better stocked them with TP near the start. My brother got screwed when one of the water stations ran out, but he probably should have hydrated better as well.

  • Comments: need to be more prepared for swim. maybe i will practice bumping into stuff to screw up my breathing and get back into the breathing. this was a special tri because my girlfriend and i got to train together and share the entire experience together. I wish we could get the entire post race experience together but our fans would not allow that, but next year will be different. heres to a good race(raising my imaginary glass of sake that i will soon be drinking in japan).

  • Comments: Make sure to bring: - throw away flip flops to walk around in during the long wait for your wave to start - your own toilet paper (they do not re-stock the toilet paper in the porta pottys) - newspaper to read - before you enter the transition area, they check to be sure your race number is on your helmet, and on your bike and that you have already strapped on your timing chip. If you are missing any of these things, they will make you step out of line to go get it; there were several people right behind me that had left their chips in the hotel and had to go back to get them. Great race overall; will do again if I can figure out how to qualify for the age-group elite wave.

  • Comments: I love this race. The logistics to get there can be a headache, especially if you are towing two kids and a baby along. My wife rocks!!! It can also get a bit expensive if you are on a budget. However, it only happens once a year and is worth every penny and every minute of training.

  • Comments: Kick-A$$ race! It's tough logistics (huge venue, 8000+ racers, 50 or so waves, lots of waiting). The bike course is littered with potholes. But it is all SO WORTH IT. Highlights: 1. Watching the pre-race sun rise on Lake Michigan. 2. Riding South on Lake Shore Drive looking toward the Chicago skyline. 3. Running through the museum campus and along Lake Michigan. 4. The energy of such a large race with massive spectator support. 5. Thinking about how much goes into pulling an event like this off.

  • Comments: The only thing I didn't like was thee were no volunteers during transition setup and some of the wave racks were hard to find. Not mine, but several people wandered around forever.

  • Comments: Overall a tremendous course, just the right challenge, very fun. There were alot of little things with the race organization that made me wonder if they are getting lazy in 25 years. The most disturbing BY FAR is no security in the transition when I went to get my bike. How can that happen in such a big race?? Just happy my bike was atill there.
